My other Riebrake post is getting a bit long so I'm just going to link it here and then add some more pieces below

In order to tell you about Preacher finding out, I need to tell you about Mike and Brady working together. But in order to tell you about them working together, I need to tell you about The Fight. And in telling you about The Fight, I can tell you about Jack’s bachelor party, which includes Jack finding out. But I actually haven't figured out all the finer details about The Fight yet. It does involve a difference of opinion on telling people about them that gets a bit out of hand, there's just this one motivation that I can't fully pin down yet (I should stop thinking about it and do something mindless because that's when pieces usually slot into place for me). So that might have to wait a little while.

Here's the beginning instead.

Maybe it’s when Mike gets shot. Because that's prime time for angst (which is my jam), but there's also time for that to change. But whenever it is, there's Mike figuring out (or maybe Brie just straight up tells him) that things aren't over between Brie and Brady. And Mike is already crazy about Brie and all he wants is for her to be happy. So maybe he's going to be an idiot leave because as long as Brie is happy, even if that's not with him, then he's happy too. This way there's no choice to make, nothing to give up, no awkward feelings or situations to face. Except for that the idea of Mike leaving breaks Brie out into a cold sweat- she can't lose him anymore than she can give up Brady. Except she doesn't really know how to say that. And then there's Mike, who's just worried that Brie is with him because he got hurt, that he'd be second choice to Brady and he doesn't want to feel like that. And then there's Brady who thinks that it's so fucking great that Brie still loves him and wants to be with him, but obviously she's not going to be happy without Mike either. So he's actually the one with common sense and finds Mike and tells him he's an idiot and he can't leave because that would break Brie's heart and complicated as this might be, they can't let that happen so they're going to have to figure out a way to make this work
