Grande Zero, begin the performance!

New batch of cool Big O cels and sketches! Most are from the first episode, Roger the Negotiator, with a few others mixed in. Not taking the time to source every one, but will do most. 

First up, the iconic debut of Big O, rising up through the rubble of a building it is destroying, while coming up to the surface:

After the first Megadeus battle, Dastun notices Dorothy standing near where Dorothy I is about to crash down. He rushes over to save what he thinks is a human girl, only to find out she’s quite the heavy android:

There’s a cool Roger in shades about to walk into the Speakeasy, which is obstructed by the door in the show. Now you can see him in his full glory:

And Roger standing right before he sits down on his couch, when Dorothy also makes her first visit:

A few other nice Roger pieces (with one cel unfortunately stuck to the sketch with paint already peeled off on it, that I won’t separate), before we end with an Angel sketch from Ep. 7, which is basically a match to the cel I’ve already previously grabbed, albeit 2 frames earlier:

So last October, I had the rare chance to be part of a Big O zine.  Since it’s possibly my favorite anime ever, I jumped at the chance, even if I was (and still am) struggling... aht wise.  The piece ate my soul, but although there are things I wish I had done differently, I still have a fondness for.

Col. Dastun pays Roger a late-night visit, seeking help with a mystery. Roger helps him solve a different one. And the Colonel discovers the real reason Roger always wears black.

"Tell me the truth, Dan. Why’d you come over here tonight? What’s bothering you?”

Dan didn’t answer right away, hoisting his glass and draining the last few drops out of it before setting it down with a thick clunk. “Tell me, Roger… why did you really quit the force?”

Roger’s eyes blinked open wide at the question before wincing shut, his free hand rising to his temple. “Dan… we’ve had that conversation. And every time after the first time was one time too many. I took an oath to serve and protect, but I realized I was serving and protecting the wrong people. And I had the resources and skills to do something else with my life, so I did. That’s it. And if you’ve come here to have the same old fight, I refuse to engage.” He set his drink aside, picking the stapled bundle up off the floor and tucking it back into the folder. “You should be okay to drive in about an hour or so,” he snapped, shoving the folder towards Dan as if to parry further questions. “You can stay here until then, but I’m going to bed.”

“I just wanna know if it had anything to do with what happened in the showers!”
