Alan Gabriel

A sadistic and sociopathic cyborg, Alan Gabriel was a secret agent for Union who crossed his handlers in his efforts to gain power through the activation of the giant robot ‘Megadeus’ known as the Big Fau. This put him at odds with Roger Smith and Smith’s own Megadeus, The Big O.

Following numerous battles in which Smith gained the upper hand on Gabriel, the villain was finally able to defeat the Big O. Before he could kill Smith, however, Gabriel was attacked by the chaotic Schwarzwald and Gabriel ended up perishing in the ensuing battle.

Actor Issei Futamata voiced Alan Gabriel in the original anime (with Crispin Freeman voicing the character int he English dub). The villain first appeared in the fourteenth episode of The Big O, airing on January 2nd, 2003.

So last October, I had the rare chance to be part of a Big O zine. Since it’s possibly my favorite anime ever, I jumped at the chance, even if I was (and still am) struggling... aht wise. The piece ate my soul, but although there are things I wish I had done differently, I still have a fondness for.
