From this week’s Songs You Need to Hear
Orchid Collective, 'Lay As Stone' There are those songs that you like immediately, others that you'll grow to love, and then there are some that you'll obsess over. I haven't quite got to the latter with Orchid Collective's "Lay As Stone," but I'm not far off! What Orchid Collective has given us as its debut single is something of immense beauty. "Lay As Stone" could have quite easily been written by Bon Iver, Sufjan Stevens or Fleet Foxes. This Dublin four-piece has opened its recording account at a level that few young acts could possibly match. —DH
