Riley Matthews has always been a romantic with a princess fairytale in mind. In fact, she even has a secret bookshelf of scrapbooks under her bed that no one knows about (even Maya), all sorted by color, month, date, event. You name it, and Riley has a scrapbook for it.
So when she started dating Farkle Minkus, the boy who knows her better than anyone else in the universe (besides Maya), she thought maybe, just maybe, she could fulfill her little fairytale dream.
When Valentines Day was a round the corner, Riley had her daily hope that Farkle would pull off some extravagant gifts and sweep her away on a white horse, but everyday she went home with a little bit of disappointment.
2/14 Today was the day, and there were no balloons at her locker or any banners screaming, “I LOVE RILEY MATTHEWS,” and she couldn’t help but be disappointed, and when Smiley Riley wasn’t happy, nothing felt right. Yet, Farkle seemed oblivious to her disappointment and just asked her if she wanted to study later at his place. No flowers, no kiss, nothing. But of course, Riley went over, books in tow, but she wished this day could have been better. She muttered to her self, “Maybe hope is for suckers after all” as rode up the elevator to Farkle’s penthouse.
When the elevator doors slid open, she stopped in her tracks only to find a single rose petal outside the front door. The door was unlocked, and Riley slowly made her way in following the path of rose petals to her favorite place in the penthouse – the planetarium. When she walked in, all she saw was Farkle staring up through the glass ceiling at the stars. Though they lived in New York, the view was still breath taking.
“Farkle? What are you doing?”
With each word Farkle spoke, he took a step forward to Riley.
“I’d go to the ends of the universe for you Riley. I’m sorry I didn’t sweep you away on a white horse. I’m sorry I didn’t send you cute little notes in your locker. I’m sorry I didn’t give you gifts in every class. I’m sorry I didn’t make your classmates jealous of you. I’m sorry I didn’t do anything romantic for that matter. Now I’m not trying to justify myself, but I didn’t do all those things because I have spent every waking minute for the last couple of weeks to try and get Pluto as a planet again. And guess what? I did.”
At this point, Farkle was right in front of Riley, and she was in tears.
“You see that shining light? That’s Pluto, the newest re-addition to our solar system.”
Riley couldn’t even gather herself to find the words to express how she felt about Farkle. She was a mess, but she didn’t care. All she knew was she had the best boyfriend ever, and though she didn’t have her “Cory and Topanga” fairytale, she did have her own. Though he didn’t swoop her away, he did something much much better. He went to the ends of the universe to get Pluto back.
Hope isn’t for suckers after all.

what is this show without cat grant i don't Know Her
ME. like there are definitely non-cat related issues that I’m having (or at least, could be issues even if cat was still on the show, though I think just by her presence a lot of them would be mitigated but anYWAY), but honestly, she was so crucial to what made s1 so great. and I’m sad.
