Volume 1 to Volume 7

Fun Fact: Did you know that Roxette’s “Dance Passion” has 7 songs and is 38 mins long? Roxette’s “Good Karma” has 11 songs and is also 38 mins long.  Cool, ain’t it? Well, my favorite song, 3 weeks in a row has been “Sarà perché ti amo” by Ricchi e Poveri, and it’s a lovely lovely song with a bit of an ABBA-ish touch, musically.  Talking about ABBA, there are rumors which are “confirmed” now that they are having a reunion after 35 years. Lets see how true is it this time.  I still didn’t get a chance to listen to “Dance Passion” till now, because I need full concentration for it, and I have not gotten it yet. But I did get a chance to listen to quite some Gyllene Tider and solo Marie Fredriksson in the Swedish best hits albums. I have heard 7 albums, and almost all of them have a representation from GT and MF. Seriously, this shows how BIG they were and how BIG they are in the Swedish pop scene.  Out of 7 albums, 6 had GT and Marie.  Let me share: Vol. 1 - Juni, Juli, Augusti - Gyllene Tider - Ännu doftar kärlek - Marie Fredriksson Vol. 3 - Sommartider - Gyllene Tider - Sparvöga - Marie Fredriksson Vol. 4 - Lycklig, Lycklig - Ulf Lundell (Marie sang a version of this song with Ulf Lundell as well) - När Vi Två Blir En - Gyllene Tider - Efter Stormen - Marie Fredriksson Vol. 5 - Flickorna På TV2 - Gyllene Tider Vol. 6 - Ljudet Av Ett Annat Hjärta - Gyllene Tider Vol. 7 - (Kom Så Ska Vi) Leva Livet - Gyllene Tider - Så Länge Det Lyser Mittemot - Marie Fredriksson  And not just there, there are 2 more things worth mentioning: - Nordman is a fantastic Swedish band which blends Pop-Rock with Folk. Fantastic.  - Ratata (yes, the same who sang “I want you” with Roxette and Eva Dahlgren) sounds quite a lot like “Foreigner” (Remember their song “Waiting for a girl like you” or “Say you will” or “I want to know what love is”?) - Eva Dahlgren is fantastic! There are plenty of songs by her which I came across in these 7 volumes out of 20, and i’m super impressed by her understanding of Pop. Brilliant.  Anyway, this is a very mixed up article, apologies, but hey, I wish you a merry weekend.  Love and Peace 4/2/2017

Dance Passion, Really?

Have you heard Roxette’s “Dance Passion”?  Of course you have, and it’s something you don’t like to talk about. And I’m sure there is no one out there who likes that album. Anyone who is the owner of that album only has the album for collection purposes, i’m sure about that.  Even considering it to be a dance album from the 80s doesn’t really make it seep into your system.  I mean sure, all the songs are familiar, and are more or less the same as the original, but they are still different, and not the best kind of different.  I guess I heard “Dance Passion” for the second time in my life yesterday (I can’t even remember the 1st time), and I won’t say that I didn’t enjoy the album, because I most certainly did. I enjoyed it because all the songs were familiar to every vein in my body. But if I didn’t know the songs before, or if I was not a Roxette fan, I would’ve not liked it much.  The album has the best songs, I must admit that. It even has “Like Lover Do” along with all the famous ones. I would listen to this album again tonight, or tomorrow, and give another review to it. I hope the opinion changes.  BUT if this is being heard by a non-Roxette fan, or even a listener of the 80s dance music, I’m pretty sure it won’t leave them much impressed.  What do you think?
