Belly Dance Turns: The Toe Turn
Turns....
So, seeing as how this is actually a dance blog, i figure i should post some dance type stuff. This particular series is going to focus on turns. Yeah, that's right, turns. My reasoning for this post is simple. I suck at turns posted on my right leg. I can get clean triples on my left, but I've lost all my turn technique for my rights. Why? Because the only turns I've done on my right leg for 2 years have been single piques . That's the highest skill I've been allowed to teach some of my classes and all my recent choreography I've been taught has required left turns. Needless to say, I'm going back to the basics. Day 1 of turn boot camp starts now. First: I do barre work with tendus balancing on my left, since that is my weaker side. I run through coupe, pique, open, closed, and all 5 positions repeatedly until i feel comfortable balancing on my right leg. Then i practice singles. Until the end of time. In all the positions. And as i practice , i correct my movement so each consecutive turn is cleaner and more precise. Day 2 begins tomorrow!
