I'm a nanny and that's hard enough even though i get to give them back at the end of the day. You have the hardest & probably most thankless job! Its ridiculous that people don't realise how much stay at home parents do!
Any job based around childcare is harder than people give it credit for. I’ve known Nannies where their friends are like “You have the best job you just get to play in the park all day” and it’s like er...yeah...no! It’s so much harder than that!

@rumaan THIS. I have received quite a lot of judgemental comments in the real world* about the fact Im giving up my job to be a SAHM to my twins. Childcare is hideously expensive, let alone for twins and my job doesnt pay that well. At best, I would break even; at worst, Id be poorer, more tired, stressed etc. I am very fortunate that we are financially able for me to stay at home, but hey, it isnt some sort of jolly holiday! Big big hugs. *not tumblr people!
Yeah, I think when I factored out the insanely expensive nursery costs (for 1 child!) and the usual costs of getting to work, I was less than £50 per month richer if I’d continued working so yeah I completely get your decision to SAH.

The game is rigged. Women can't win. You can do really, really well.... but you can't win. I wish I didn't believe that. But I'm old now, and embracing the crone. And she's a cynical old bitch. Hug your kids. Drink tea. Keep a savings account and a phone in your own name. May the force be ever with you.
We really can’t win. Either we;re selfish if we don’t want kids or too ambitious if we want to focus on a career or lazy if we stay at home with kids. It’s a cycle designed to punish us purely for being women.

this is all so true, and it's almost like women are criticized no matter what choice they make
Criticised no matter what we do. Sometimes you just need to shrug and rant on social media!

*huggles you* I think being a stay at home parent is something to be proud of? Not bc it's bad to be a working woman or something but bc stay at home moms work just as hard? My mom was a stay at home mom for most of our lives and she worked really fucking hard? not only in making sure kids do their work but taking them to and from school, going to every event? taking me and my sister to every activity and still making sure everything was working perfectly?
Yep, it’s not considered a job but it’s still a job...
