BOTTLING FIRE: THE LAUNCH OF CALI CARTEL DISCOGRAFICOS
We've partnered up with the Los Angeles branch of the nation-wide multimedia group DJ Club Network to bring you the story of Cali Cartel Discográficos, a Los Angeles based dance / electronic label launched in 2012 by label front men Effe T and Illé, formerly of Robot Love and DANCEiSM. Their work with the Los Angeles production group helped spark the flames of the burgeoning local electronic scene and with the launch of their label, they’re bringing that fire to the people.
As Surdam declares "[we're] excited for the future because we're just starting... we're growing the Cali Cartel family, we're hungry and we're doing it in LA - the best place to be".
So, I work as a writer for Danceism.com and I recently interviewed Louis La Roche. Check it out.

Show Review - 9/22: D. Ramirez and Audrey Napoleon at Central
My techno heroes, D. Ramirez and Audrey Napoleon were in town at my favorite local dig, The Central SAPC (Social Aid and Pleasure Club) last night, for Danceism's Thursday night Versus parties. D. Ramirez was unannounced, but the flyer with Audrey and the "surprise guest" basically spelled out that it would be him again!
I was lucky enough to catch them last month at the same event, and they blew away my expectations yet again last night. Audrey laid down some heavy hitting techno tracks with a darker feel to them (as her style goes), while D. Ramirez had a little bit more of a melodic vibe to him with banging techno. I met Dean before his set and he was a really cool, down to earth guy. We chitchatted about Nocturnal, and he told me that "tomorrow I'm playing in front of 20,000 people on the main stage... but this is my scene." I have a lot of respect for the man for coming out to a small bar in Santa Monica and just laying out some massive tunes. We both agreed that a smaller venue allows the DJ to connect more with the crowd and play a more intimate set, which was exactly how it went last night.
I was never a huge techno fan until these two turned me on to it again... I used to stick to house, tech house, minimal, dubstep, etc. but Audrey and Dean made techno a new part of my diet!
I felt that I had to share the track Yeah Yeah with you guys, because it is an awesome song from late 2006, reaching the top of the charts in the UK for some time, and every time I think of D. Ramirez this song comes to mind. Hope to see those two again sometime soon!
Urulu - No Need Tonight! delicious. this is just what i wanted for my thursday night.
2NITE: ED GOLD + SECRET GUEST BDAY SET~* oH SNAPS.....

AC Slater has been one of my favorite DJs since I saw him way back in the day at one of the very first DANCEiSM underground dance parties. He had the opportunity to DJ for an Australian radio station and believe me, these mixes RAGE. Its the perfect mix for lame LA traffic or even better a pregame for a night out. I picked the 2nd edition of the 4 week series because, honestly, the others do not rage as hard for so long. I love this music. Hope you do too.
