We open on the physiosuite at Covent Garden Royal Ballet studios. It’s noon on the 6th of August 2012. Greg Lestrade is engrossed in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and John Watson is sitting in the office on the computer looking at flats. Sherlock Holmes is breezing down the hall to the suite.

It’s been nearly a year since Sherlock won the part of Nijinsky and things have been calm on all fronts. Of course he couldn’t keep it that way for long, he’s Sherlock Holmes after all.

So I was watching Strictly Come Dancing...

(which is our equivalent of Dancing With The Stars) and does a dancer Sherlock AU exist? I know ballet!lock was a thing for while, but is there a ballroom!lock?

I can just see it. Sherlock as this top-notch ballroom dancer, all precision and elegance and he's at the top of his game, but he lacks the passion. He can fake it and it can be convincing, but to the trained eye it's clear there's something missing. 

Then there's John. He used to be so good, but he hurt his shoulder and had to calm things down, maybe retire from professional dancing to become a teacher. And he sees Sherlock and sees how the fire is missing and gets frustrated because it seems like a waste of potential.

I just have this scene in my head of Sherlock practising and then John walks over to him, takes the lead forcing Sherlock to play the female role, and despite his shorter stature he absolutely dominates. And they have this wild, passionate dance, maybe an Argentine Tango, and it ends with John dipping Sherlock so their faces are so close and they're breathing so hard. 

And then John straightens them up and walks away having very successfully proven his point.

Basically, someone write this fic. A long, novel-length dancer!lock fic with competitions and rivalry and tension and a steamy soundtrack (and maybe some wild fucking in the end because come on).
