Author Appreciation, Meet Teresa!!
How would you describe your fanfiction?
T: A little bit of everything, I suppose, including some mini-crossovers. In one of my fics, Scully finds out that Mulder is writing NC-17 Garcy (Timeless) fanfic based on their own relationship, and smutty hilarity ensues. Teresa Mendoza from "Queen of the South" has a small but rather pivotal role in "The Next Files." I haven't tackled a case file yet. That's next.

When did you start writing fanfiction? Has it always been TXF?
T: I know I wrote a couple of TXF fics back in the mid-90s, though I can't remember what name I was using. That's okay, because they probably weren't very good. LOL I also wrote a Doctor Who fanfic in ~1984, when I was 13 (!), with pen and paper, so that was probably my first. I didn't know it was "fanfic" then. That was the Dark Ages, pre-internet.
What inspired you to start writing?
T: Oh god, I started reading before I got into kindergarten, and I've been making up stories and writing them down for as long as I can remember. Our house had an endless supply of books, and we would get, like, three newspapers every Sunday and the TV Guide every week. There's a stereotype that kids who watch a lot of TV don't read, but I read like Henry Bemis in The Twilight Zone. I still do. I was always reading or watching TV as a kid. I loved both. Old Skool Who got me into sci-fi when I was about 11 years old, and I started buying Doctor Who novels imported from the UK at a little sci-fi/horror book shop in Claymont, Delaware.
What fanfic are you most proud of? Why?
T: I guess it would be "Triangulation." I wrote the whole thing in one 90-minute sitting based off something someone said on Twitter: What if Scully had said "Oh fuck" instead of "Oh brother"? It was really well-received, even though there's no smut. =) My first fic in the modern age, "The Next Files," is special to me because writing it led me to find myself again as a writer.

Who's easier for you to write? Mulder or Scully?
T: Mulder. He's just simpler.
What is hardest for you as an author? Your weakness or something you just struggle with?
T: I write really slowly. I'm envious of authors who can pound out fic after fic like mad.
What are you currently working on?
T: A case file for the summer exchange!
XFE: *this interview was pre-exchange. You can find Teresa's Exchange fic here
Is there anything else you'd like promoted?
T: Follow me on Medium, where you can read my smart shit about cybersecurity. =) I also penned a "thank-you" note to The X-Files there.

-Message From the Author-
I work for myself as a professional copywriter, primarily for cybersecurity and cloud companies. I find it hilarious that I write what I call "smart shit" all day, then write MSR fluff and smut. TXF fanfic led me to find myself as a writer again a couple of years ago, when I had lost myself and grown to hate writing. Fanfic is my way of relaxing and setting my creativity free. I'm so glad I started doing this again.
