November 27 Ultimately it is the perfect ending. Australia win something, South Africa win something. Everybody wins something. Even the most under-pressure batsman in the South African line-up, Stephen Cook, gets a hundred. Cook and I were at university at around the same time and when I first started in cricket, as a scorer, he was playing for the provincial side. We have known each other a long time, from before we had careers in cricket. That night, the media unwind in a pub and some of the South African players are there. Dane Vilas, who was also part of our old uni crew, is among them, and we get chatting. "How many times have you seen Cookie score a hundred like that?" he asks me. I think back to the days of club cricket, when Cook scored hundreds for the University of Johannesburg; to the days of provincial cricket, when he did it for Gauteng, and I realise just how far he, Vilas and I have come.

AB De Villiers will miss the Test series against Australia - The Cricket Web
Ahead of the test series against Australia, South Africa have included two uncapped spinners, Tabraiz Shamsi and Keshav Maharaj. Faf du Plessis will be the captain for the series as regular skipper AB de Villiers is injured.
The first test match will be started from November 3rd at Perth. The final and third test of this series will be played under the light with pink ball at Adelaide.
Morne Morkel missed the test series against New Zealand for injury and now he is back in the side as he is fully fit.
Dean Elgar also returned from injury and named himself in the test squad. About taking two newcomers in the side, Cricket South Africa (CSA) selection head Linda Zondi said, “Shamsi has made huge progress over the course of the last year in the longer format, he took 41 wickets at an average of less than 20 in seven matches last season and he certainly offers something different as an attacking spinner.”
He also added, “Maharaj is also right on top of his game. He took 13 wickets in a domestic match at the weekend and also made a run-a-ball 72.”
Zondi also said, “Basically, we are following a horses for courses policy as we feel that spinners who turn the ball away from the right-hander are going to be particularly useful under Australian conditions and against the Test batsmen we are likely to face.”
South Africa Test squad:
Faf du Plessis (c), Kyle Abbott, Hashim Amla, Temba Bavuma, Stephen Cook, Quinton de Kock, JP Duminy, Dean Elgar, Keshav Maharaj, Morne Morkel, Vernon Philander, Kagiso Rabada, Rilee Rossouw, Tabraiz Shamsi, Dale Steyn, Dane Vilas

South Africa name uncapped spin duo for Australia tour - The Cricket Web
Uncapped spinners Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi were named in South Africa’s squad for next month’s three-match Test series in Australia on Monday as the Proteas seek to exploit a perceived weakness in their hosts’ batting.
Faf du Plessis will again captain the team in the absence of injured AB de Villiers after leading the side in the two-Test series against New Zealand last month, which they won 1-0. Although Australia’s vulnerability to spin was exposed on their recent tour of Sri Lanka, pace bowling is likely to decide the opening Test in Perth, which is followed by matches in Hobart and a day-nighter in Adelaide.
Quick Morne Morkel returns to the squad after missing the New Zealand series through injury although his selection is subject to his successfully coming through a domestic competition match which starts in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday. Dean Elgar also returns from injury while another uncapped player, Rilee Rossouw, has been added as a specialist batsman.
Dane Vilas will again travel as the second wicketkeeper behind Quinton de Kock after making his debut in Bangladesh last year. South Africa and Australia conclude a fifth-match ODI series in Cape Town on Wednesday with South Africa leading 4-0.

Dane Vilas was 550 miles away from Johannesburg, the venue for the 3rd Sunfoil Test between South Africa and England when he was included in the playing XI. The reason was the ‘freak’ injury which ruled out Quinton de Kock out of the match, just half hour before the game commenced. This forced Cricket South African announce an immediate replacement in the form…
