stephen was speaking from a place of privilege. he doesn't know what it's like and no one can blame him. he was born lucky. that said, his tweets sounded a lot like 'not all texans' which is basically 'not all men' i am so disappointed in him. i think he's right to take a step back
Listen, I don’t think you’re wrong.
I think where “fans” went wrong is the insults and attacks.
Education is the important part. There were some very well crafted responses that I saw and then just some absolutely unnecessary responses.
I think I’m more “disappointed” in the “running” and not just owning that it was said and then using it to become more educated. I think people always “look” worse when they run.
I will never support the way some people acted and the way they continue to act just like I could never support the content of what he said.
At the end of the day, people make mistakes. For someone who has, to this point, been pretty much the opposite of problematic, it’s very weird to see people willing to burn him at the stake already or just completely turn their backs.
I’m just not in the habit of judging people for one mistake, lord knows I’ve made plenty.
