Listen. I may complain. But I was actually born in the RIGHT era because I love air conditioning and my friends that I met on Tumblr Dot Com
Last year, I befriended a Catholic seminarian. We've gotten to be pretty decent friends. Seeing as he was staying in town for the summer and I wasn't, I entrusted him with caring for my plant.
He did a wonderful job, but as he was returning my plant to my custody, he explained "I watered her every other day, I gave her new dirt, moved her into the sunshine, prayed the rosary-"
"What?"
He looked at me, confused. "Isn't she a plant you pray with?"
"No," I said slowly. "She's a prayer plant. That's the... colloquial name of the plant."
Upon seeing his stricken face, I realized something went wrong. Turns out, this entire time, he's been including my plant in on his prayers and leaving her near icons.
Listen, totally cool. My plant becoming Catholic is a great deal for her not dying over the summer. But now I must navigate this interfaith household. Keep me in your thoughts.
The ancient texts were true… They DO have a reaction image for everything…
what a horse considers play is business to a monkey. but to tom? its all foolery
apparently the scene with louise wasn't part of rian's outlines and it only happened when he actually started writing jud pov and jud forced him to stop the game and to listen to her and it changed his whole story arc and created the most poignant scene in the movie that you can analyze from like 10 different perspectives. i love when characters start having a mind of their own and jud "it's storytelling" duplenticy always felt like one of them so i am not at all surprised

gotta say every ad turning into a repulsive AI image/ video in the past couple years has really solidified my aversion to being advertised to
like before it was just “ugh seeing these ads is annoying”. now it’s “wow proof that you don’t care about your product at all, or even the people that might make an ad for you, OR the public that might buy your product.” What a self-report. not one ounce of effort spared to sell the thing you wanna sell to me, the person forced to look at your stupid ad.
It feels like this every time I write a fic
ok i’ve been curious about something. can you name a character who is, all three at once,
1. canonically female (no variation)
2. canonically the protagonist of her story (if it’s an ensemble cast you have to say you can legitimately see her as The main character)
3. your personal #1 favorite character in that story (ties are acceptable)
?
yes
no
super nuance bald extract button (use this wisely)
it's always funny to me when ppl act like it's somehow incestuous for characters who consider each other found family/chosen family/whatever u wanna call the trope to date each other, and it's funny for many reasons, but most specifically it's funny because irl when you meet a person and get really attached and decide that you want to be family with them, there's a very popular legally recognized way of doing that & it's called marriage
DNI if you've ever:
Been to Greenland
Been to Denver
Buried treasure in St. Louis (or St. Paul for that matter)
Been to Moscow
Been to Tampa
Been to Boston (only if you went during the fall, though)
Hoisted a mainstay
Swabbed a poop deck
Veered to starboard
You know what just DNI if you've ever sailed at all
Walked a gangplank
Owned a parrot (I shouldn't have to explain this one)
Been to Boston in the fall (cannot overstate this)
distressing things to say to your friends
I think one of the gentlest things in the world is when a friend just gets your weird little brain. like you say half a sentence and they finish it. you reference something incredibly niche from seven years ago and they’re already nodding. they understand your strange vocabulary for emotions that don’t have real words yet. it’s being seen and known and still loved. maybe especially because you’re known. god. what a gift.
