Sera preferred the earth, the water, and the very life that crumbled in her six hundred year slumber. After each and every trial, she found comfort in the petals that withered in their glass prison, the motionless sample of ocean that once roared with the Pacific, and the still-fresh smell of life so unique to earthen sod. Merely having them told her she was always home.

10: What type of people does your OC idolize the most?

I don’t know about “type,” but Sarianna had two heroes growing up: her dad (Alec) and Joon-Ho Shepard, whose heroism against the Batarian pirates on Mindoir and subsequent military accomplishments were already well-known by the time she was a child. She idolized her father for similarly being considered a “hero” of the First Contact War and for his service as N7.

By the time she came off age, only Shepard remained to be idolized in Sarianna’s eyes. The adage “never meet your heroes” could probably explain how Alec fell out of favor (his being an absent father and husband really ruined it).

16: How openly does your OC show their emotions?

Openly but it is never intentional, or at least she isn’t aware she “betrays” her emotions. When she is upset, she has telltale signs like the biting of her lip, the tapping of her foot, or the amount of times she avoids making eye contact with the person she’s upset with.

Once, when she found out that her cousin Reggie was “keeping tabs” on her for Reyes after they broke up, Sarianna was an open raging book (haha). It’s moments like that where it doesn’t matter to her anymore if she’s being discreet about her feelings. She will yell as loudly as possible and even pick a fight.

When love is in the mix, things get a little calmer but no less open. Those longing sighs tell you just how often she daydreams. When in the same room, she is always struck by the sudden inability to keep her eyes off Reyes whomever she’s pining for. Sometimes she blurts out exactly how she feels without much tact. She’s a hopeless romantic :)

20: Do other people have misconceptions about some parts of your OC’s personality?

I think many characters might think Sarianna is a “good” person, or that she’s very capable of withstanding, say, “bad influences” from the company she keeps. The truth is that it’s a facade. She acts the good and perfect girl, because she craves positive reinforcement. If things don’t go her way, she gets very emotionally manipulative - a trait Reyes learns the hard way. If whatever the issue is isn’t about her, she’s going to find a way to redirect everyone back to her as the center. It’s never overt, but people who have known her for a while will notice it.

30: What could make your OC cry?

In terms of what I’ve written for my own fics and the cousins AU with @chargenovasmash, she cried several times:

Quietly to herself when Alec died

Once, drunk, after having sex with Reyes shortly before he disappears to do his charlatan shit

Alone, at night when she felt regret saving Sloane over Reyes

Once, in an argument with her cousin Reggie, after her cousin very callously told her to her face that everybody lies to her, including her own family to justify keeping in contact with Reyes after the bad breakup.

So, Reyes makes her cry a lot LOL.
