If you like prog rock/metal. Highly recommended.

Oldie but a goodie. Especially in high fidelity.

It’s the production that makes it but since I heard it I’ve never been able to get these lyrics out of my mind.

Also, Daniel Gildenlow is one of the most emotive male vocalists I’ve ever heard in my life. Incredible!

Guy honestly puts the likes of Meat Loaf and Phil Collins to shame and that’s saying something.

The Pain of Salvation fanbase is the most passionate band fanbase that never actually talks to each other.

The subreddit’s dead, the Tumblr tag is dead, the Twitter tag is definitely dead, the one fan page on Facebook that exists is dead, there’s barely any discussion on the band on YouTube. Yet despite this, whenever I do see them posted in r/progmetal or in another band’s fangroup, there are always people saying “these guys are amazing, my absolute favorite, best band ever, GOAT, I’m a Daniel Gildenlöw fanboy, etc.” Nothing but love every time, and always multiple people saying it at a time. Yet when it comes to each other specifically, we have near radio silence.

People who love the band are out there. We just seem to absolutely suck at building a community of any kind, and I’m not entirely sure why. They’re definitely a niche band, but they’re not that niche, particularly not in the prog community - which at least on Reddit is fairly active by the day.

(It also personally pains me that there are like...two? decent PoS AMVs on YouTube, and less than five total. I aim to slowly increase that number, and hopefully I won’t be the only one - there’s so much untapped potential there I swear.)

((Also yes, PoS is a rather unfortunate acronym.))
