Types of concept albums:

some guy just absolutely goes crazy loses it

immortality is awful

death (that's it. the concept is death.)

the most complicated and convoluted plotline about life and love and death and war and science and religion and folk mythology and time and politics and existentialism and hope and mental illness and personal responsibility and a dictatorial regime and ai and art and philosophy and the human soul and the apocalypse and the lyrics are all metaphorical and vague and there's like so much expanded lore that can only be found in the notes of a limited edition release in Slovakia from 10 years ago and scattered across 5 different interviews from the digital branch of a french music magazine and try as you might you'll never understand it at all but there's some guy on a niche music review forum that pieced it all together in 2012

Well, I have news:

This is my collection! (< Read in the tone of that one Kamelot line, "But this is my confession!" XD)

Bands: in alphabetical order, CDs - mostly in order of release of the album (reissues don't count) - except the compilations Decades and Where I Reign for... reasons

Upcoming additions: my preordered Fiction CD rerelease should come this week, and then I'm waiting for another Theatre of Tragedy CD (Last Curtain Call) to turn up in the post sometime next month.

I'd love to see more people get insane about Ayeron! Come on, we have:

-Evil sentient AI -Immortal beings experimenting on humanity/people to try to get a semblance of a self of self and emotions -Merlin dooming humanity because of his arrogance -People fleeing their dying planet and letting everyone they know to die -The last human being branched to a machine and experiencing the birth of the universe -Time manipulation -Really cool music overall

If you do start though, you can skip the albums Actual Fantasy, The Theory of Everything (though that one is amazing) and Transitus as they are not part of the main story
