The Protection Of Orthodox Jewish Rights Ascertained By Daniel Greer

The people following the belief of the orthodox Jewish teachings are guided by their teacher or “Rabbi” for short. The teacher bestows upon them the education of moral purity and helping the people without expecting anything in return. These teachings were personalized by the actions of the priest Daniel Greer, who along with the strong support of his compatriots secured the rights for the orthodox Jews in the United States of America.  His efforts resulted in the termination of the discrimination done against the practitioners of the Orthodox Jewish guidelines in regard to the labor laws and regulations.

Founding the defense group

Since its inception in 1965 by Reuben Gross, Marvin Schick, and Daniel Greer, the group named as the “National Jewish Commission on Legal and Public Affairs” or COLPA has been advancing and fighting for the causes of the Orthodox Jewish population. Due to their relevant arguments and constant reminders, the rabbi and the co-founders of COLPA assured victory in numerous counts which ensured the safeguarding of the legal, legislative and religious rights of the orthodox Jews in the United States. The most mention-worthy is the passage of the Chananau Bill, which permits New York City Civil Service examinations to be performed on days other than the Saturday, the day of Sabbath.

Remaining connected

His other victories are also instrumental in securing the equal footing of the orthodox Jews in the legal and jurisdictive scene of the United States. The teacher carries on contributing to the betterment of the Orthodox Jewish community, in addition to the community of New Haven, Connecticut.

Civic Restoration Project Successfully Completed By Rabbi Daniel Greer

The individuals who live their life based on the sacred doctrines of the Torah and Talmud are always ready to act for the greater good, be it for the society or the individual. The teachings are ingrained in their psyche by their teacher or ‘rabbi’; who shows the little souls the path of righteousness and thinking for others before for oneself. Such a teacher, the always smiling Rabbi Daniel Greer also sets examples of helping your fellow human beings at a much bigger level. He along with a team of good people renovated the long-neglected state of his surroundings. This contribution was recognized by the appropriate higher authorities and he was awarded for his efforts.

A little insight

The thing that most of the people are unaware that this person is educated in two of the premier educational institutions of the world, but his demeanor never ever reflects that fact. Completing his education, Rabbi Daniel Greer took an interest in the civic services and was once selected the First Deputy Commissioner of Ports and Terminals of New York City in late 1960’s. This post was the stepping stone from where he imbibed the discipline, the resources and the impulse of working for the betterment of others. He was also once nominated by the Democrats for New York State Assembly.

A humble confession

The beautiful and scenic restoration of the backgrounds and the community of the long-neglected areas of his surroundings were completed successfully by working alongside several talented craftsmen, engineers, and volunteers who devoted their precious labour into the project. The Rabbi profusely thanks them for their generosity and asserts that their help was indispensable.

The Transformation Of Barren Land Into Green Expanse By Rabbi Daniel Greer

The practitioners of the religious teachings of the Jewish religion believe in the spiritual uplifting by living for others and helping the needy. With the sacred guidance of the doctrines of Torah and Talmud, a teacher or rabbi guides his students into the path of righteousness and well-being. In the locality of New Haven, Connecticut, such a great teacher resides in the earthly form of Rabbi Daniel Greer. With an education in the best-quality schools like Yale and Princeton, the rabbi strives to imprint the same excellence and quality of education into his students. Alongwith the study of the traditional Jewish scriptures, the school also teaches general studies in its curriculum.

Saving a desolate land

The school founded by Rabbi Daniel Greer in 1977 had to relocate in a new address after its inception. The new location was an office building which was vast and sat on a huge expanse of land, but the entire property was covered with uneven and cracked asphalt. There was a presence of vintage equipment which was used in the playgrounds of the 1950’s, but that’s about it. The total expanse of land was a barren field of concrete and rubble. However, the sight of this forest of concrete wasn’t off-putting for the senior rabbi. With a smile on his face, he transformed the grey expanse of asphalt into a calming and serene landscape.

Turning the negative into positive

The relocation of the school into a “concrete forest” could be perceived as negative by the general people. With the appropriate guidance from the rabbi, the students and helpers turned it into a positive event.

Yeshiva New Haven Shul: Establishing the Shul

The Yeshiva of New Haven Shul was established several years after Rabbi Daniel Greer moved to New Haven. He and other families wanted to found a synagogue that was rich with Torah study and heritage. The Shul they established has grown into a beautiful faith community with thoughtful davening, enlightening divrei Torah, and a warm and welcoming congregation.

During services, the synagogue follows the dictates of the Shulkhan Aruch, the Code of Jewish Law. The Shul offers weekday and Shabbos  services, holiday events, and classes for men and women. Tutorials are offered to coach those who want to learn about leading prayers.

The Yeshiva of New Haven Shul sponsors a women’s Torah class on Shabbos afternoons, beginning right after Pesach until just before the high holidays. It has become very popular. Other classes include Daf Yomi, Jewish History, Early Prophets, and Understanding the Jewish Calendar.

Yeshiva of New Haven Shul: A Brief Look into Greatness

The congregation at Yeshiva of New Haven Shul follows the guidelines of the Shulchan Aruch and is known for its decorum, thoughtful divrei Torah, and welcoming community. Yeshiva of New Haven Synagogue is headed by Rabbi Daniel Greer. Rabbi Daniel Greer has resided in Connecticut for nearly four decades and infuses his congregation with the public spirit he brings.

Shortly after Daniel Greer's arrival in New Haven (where he had been years earlier as a student at Yale Law), Mayor Frank Logue appointed him to the Board of Police Commissioners. As reported at that time in the New Haven Register, "Mayor Frank Logue today announced the appointment of Daniel Greer to the Board of Police Commissioners, succeeding David Gollinger, who resigned with one year remaining on his three-year term.

A resident of New Haven for the past year, he [Greer] served as General Counsel of the Commission of Investigation in the Mayor John Lindsay Administration in New York, and also as a Deputy Commissioner of the Ports and Terminals Commission, and as Commissioner of Firearms Control."

The Yeshiva of New Haven Shut, is of course, mainly involved in Jewish causes both locally and in Israel, raising significant funds for various charities including Ezras Torah and Od Yosef Chai. These organizations support the needy both here and abroad.

In addition to all daily and Shabbos prayer services and Torah classes, congregants at Yeshiva of New Haven Shul are involved in the local community, and participate in improving the Edgewood Park area.
