@winebleeds SENT ❛ 🌨️ for a moodboard of my muses favourite weather. (daniel) ❜ MEME.
🠒 daniel likes it best when it’s warm and sunny. when he can go to the beach, go for a drive, or just lay outside in the grass. mostly, he just likes to be shirtless, so it’s nice when it’s actually warm enough for that.
daniel has a huge gemstone necklace that he wears often. one of the first gifts that he will give people as they get close are stones, based on what he thinks they would like to receive. it can come off as wildly presumptuous, but he's generally willing to take that chance. he’s very interested and very much believes in the power that stones can have. the one he wears himself is citrine, which is said to be a reminder of the vitality of life, and a symbol of happiness, joy, and light.
at this point, of course, he’s gifted every other member stones of their own.
cam: sunstone.
↳ leadership, generosity, blessings.
it’s said to clean/cleanse. he knows cameron is going through a lot. he hopes it helps attract positive things to his life.
said to channel hope, sensitivity, and abundance. he believes dom could use a little more empathy in his life. he also knows that he is a bit of a risk taker, and tends to go after things he wants without thinking. he wants to encourage him to continue to do so, while also keeping him safe.
calm and soothing, dispels anger fear and anxiety. jay is generally a soft guy, and daniel wants to encourage that within him because he thinks it’s great, to have such a masculine and still gentle energy. he also knows that he carries a lot of negative emotions within him, and daniel has seen them manifest in very short and intense bursts of grumpiness. he hopes it gives jay a little more balance.
SPENDING ALL MY NIGHTS ALONE WAITING FOR YOU TO CALL ME
YOU’RE THE ONLY ONE I WANT BY MY SIDE WHEN I FALL ASLEEP
TELL ME WHAT I’M WAITING FOR, TELL ME WHAT I’M WAITING FOR
I KNOW IT’S HARD BUT WE NEED EACH OTHER, KNOW IT’S HARD
this hook was written by daniel and cameron, though it carries vastly different meanings for the both of them. daniel approached it from a more abstract angle, a ‘what-if?’ of sorts. the person he’s talking to and about isn’t real, and never was ; it’s the idea of someone, the longing of wishing that there was someone he could be singing this to. ‘tell me what i’m waiting for’ becomes literal in that sense that he doesn’t know what else needs to happen, what he needs to do, before he makes a connection with somebody. ‘i know it’s hard but we need each other’ is him realizing that he needs to hold on to this hope of this hypothetical someone.
cameron’s is a much more concrete approach ---- having gone through a break up after being with someone for four years. the split wasn’t pretty at all, and he both resents this person while wishing they could go back to what they had. these are the more subconscious thoughts ; he knows they were right to split, but he’d be lying if he weren’t waiting for a call back, that he doesn’t miss sleep next to someone.
jaylen’s verse shows the battle with his insecurities leading up to the group’s big break. it hit a point while they were doing the ep that everything seemed pointless ---- working a day job while also pouring everything into the music for seemingly nothing was starting to take a toll on his mental state ---- he even began to feel a wavering in his faith as prayer didn’t seem to be working.
cameron returns for a verse that shows him remaining in his nostalgic state ---- he’s now thinking about all the things he’s done wrong outside of and even before his relationship. it touches briefly on the physical insecurities that he used to carry, his casual drug use and his self-awareness of his destructive behavior at the time. it ends with him painting a picture of what used to be a normal night for him ---- smoking and riding around.
he then moves into a prechorus, a more desperate and straight forward version of the ideas introduced in the chorus ---- it’s him making an attempt to fix things, to call them back, to try and say that if they try again, maybe things will be different.
daniel takes the bridge, again calling out to the idealized person he has in his head. he’s even making a bargain ‘back and forth, i’ll take that if that’s all you asking for’ ---- something that’s on again off again, something that’s a little bit destructive, whatever it is, he’s desperate enough to take it just for that connection. he’s ready to do anything and go anywhere: ‘legs up on the dashboard, only thing in my pocket is my passport.’
the song ends on a repetition of ‘do you love me?’ the question that they all felt was the foundation as well as summation of everything they had expressed on the rest of the track ; the uncertainty that there was still love left for them. cameron from his ex and from himself, daniel curious if he’ll ever get the chance to love and be loved, jaylen wondering at the time if he would receive love in the form of success and acknowledgment of their hard work, as well as wondering if he was still loved by god since he was being put through such hard times.
