I bought this thinking it would be similar to Mr. Lewis's Chugga Chugga Choo Choo, which my daughter received for her first birthday and I have read to her approximately 18 million times in the two months since. It is not. The cadence of this book is terrible. It's hard to read aloud and I've tried to put myself in different frames of mind each time I pick it up, trying to figure out how the author intended it to come off. Should I sound like a 50s beat poet? Open mic night at the coffeehouse? Homeless guy on the subway? I still don't know; I don't get a lot of practice because my daughter only lasts for three pages until she goes and gets Chugga or a Sandra Boynton book. She hasn't even chewed on it, that's how little she regards this book. The graphic design is nice. Otherwise, I have no idea how this has such positive reviews because it's just not enjoyable to read.
