Question-Hi! How are you doing and what are you up to atm?
Daniel: Dustin and I work events in Columbus. Everything from weddings and bar mitzvahs to corporate retreats and political events.
Question: Sounds like fun!
Daniel: Cool cool.
Question-Talking about songwriting, do you write the lyrics for the songs you make, or are there other people involved in the process?
Daniel: I tend to do that as a solo process. Makes for a more unified concept. I really enjoy writing and much prefer to handle that aspect of the music alone.
Question-What is the process of you making songs in a band?
Daniel: We do all of our own pre-production with our drummer, Matt before we go into the study for the final. Songs may start with someone having a riff idea or something, build drums around that, then programming, etc. It’s a very fluid process though for NMAI, so we all just contribute/supplement until we sort out a complete track.
Question-How old were you when you first started singing?
Daniel: I sang in church choir as a child, but I just started taking it seriously in the last few years.
Question-Do you have any tips for people trying to be a singer/frontman of a band?
Daniel: Practice practice practice. A lot of life is trial and error, so you need to find out what works for you. Try bridging the gap between chest and head voice.
Question-Are you happy with the career path you’ve chosen?
Daniel: I hand no regrets. I’ve gotten to travel and share my music with a lot of people in a lot of places. That being said, the music industry is in need of a paradigm shift. More power to the artists.
Question-When are you expecting to get on the road again/ doing a tour
Daniel: Can’t say much about that right now
Question- your favourite band growing up?
Daniel: I never really had one favorite. They all fulfilled different interests.
Question- Biggest musical inspiration?
Daniel: Again, I pull inspiration from everything, not even just other music. Everything is connected.
Question- What was your first tattoo and when did you get it?
Daniel: I got my chest piece of a sparrow the day I turned 18.
Question-Do you have tattoo that have a special meaning to it, and if yes, which one and what is special about it?
Daniel: They actually all have special meanings, so that’s kind of a whole other interview haha
Question-Do you have a tattoo that you regret? Or got one covered up?
Daniel: Not yet!
Question-Do you have any hobbies?
Daniel: I get bored quickly, so i have a lot of hobbies haha. I do martial arts, old world weapons collector, horology enthusiast, hiking, and I love to draw. Recently I’ve really been interested in quantum physics!
Question- Any countries that you want to visit?
Daniel: Honestly, I love to travel, so I’m excited to see anything new!
Question-Would you prefer Burger or Pizza?
Daniel: Pizza for sure!
Question-Would you prefer Beer or Drinks?
Daniel: I actually try to stay away from alcohol. It’s pretty bad for you haha
Question-No hair or no tattoos?
Daniel: Oh I’ll go bald someday, and I’ll probably just tattoo my head as well
