daniel had to admit, when he heard the other was pregnant. he wasn’t exactly estatic over it. he did know he was going to have a baby with her, he even wanted it, but he hadn’t imagined it being that early in their marriage. he was scared, no, he was terrified, of not being good enough. he never wanted to leave but the fights inbetween them damaged the fairytale relationship they once had. it was worse for their kid, dealing with divorced parents. it was still a recent break up so it was definitely hard whenever he saw her at parents meetings at school, because god forbid he didn’t attend one, she’d hold it against him forever. after all, he did care for her and their kid. he loved them from the moment he saw their little eyes open up and take a look at the world. everything around the three of them stopped in that moment and it was like they were the only ones in the room. which is exactly why he couldn’t let go of them, nor her or the baby. which wasn’t a baby anymore, more like a five year old. the divorce happened when they were three, so it was still very recent for daniel. he couldn’t think about anyone else but her, because despite all the fights he still loved her. even though he’d never admit that. “so, tomorrow i’ll be having a meeting, could you come a bit later? because i won’t be home the time we discussed.” seated at a dinner table across his ex-wife, at the playground they brought them to for their fifth birthday.
