Catch-up Sun-up Summer Time
Hello, dear ones!
First and foremost, let us apologize; we have not been posting. For shame. But, to be fair, the weather has been fair. And, as previously mentioned, we've been ruminating. And, as per usual, it's yielded exciting ideas to launch off our muggy, firefly-laden, sultry St. Louis summer right.
Also, a shout-out to the wonderful turn-out at Pridefest this past weekend! We love you and attended as audience only for once. Hooray for our city, as one of the most gay friendly cities in our nation. Let's keep pushing forward, because certainly the work is not done.
Before we delve into some new ideas, let us first play sugary red condiment and take a gander at May - the IA way.
CAM requested our presence for their Cinco De Mayo "Misterios de Mayo" weekend celebration, and seeing as we needed family-friendly, audience-involved fun, we designed a surprise musical - a murder mystery musical, in keeping with the theme. IA members of all ages penetrated the scene as your every day gallery-goers, and then joined in one by one after our first agent oh-so mysteriously collapsed and the music commenced. Our chorus of "Raise your hand! If you think that (s)he did it, raise your hand!" brought the families into the fun (The kids loved it, but definitely thought that our fake grandma Greg was the killer). We take this moment to tout our guitarist for the event, Kentucky Knife Fight's Curt Brewer. Thanks, Curt!
Also, it's on YouTube! Watch it! You'll giggle. There also a number of amazingly ridiculous shots on facebook, which you should probably waste some time looking at. Here's a preview:
Oh yeah.
Our detective - or rather, Olivia - detains Harry - or rather, Emanuel. Notice the limp arm on the ground. And the howling janitor-Daniel in the kick line.
After we arrested (and thoroughly insulted) Harry Potter, we moved on to StL Style on Cherokee St. to model their apparel. If you haven't already checked them out, do it today. Or MAYBE tomorrow. But soon! They're right at the corner of Compton and Cherokee, and their apparel is very in keeping with the awesomeness of South City, Cherokee, and St. Louis pride.
Juan Montana, of the charming Cherokee Photobooth, took some amazing pics for the website. Featured on their home page is our rad group shot:
Oh, you know. We're a bunch of show-stopping heart-breakers.
Then there was a quick little gig at the Hampton McDonald's. We turned the fast-food joint into a pretentious café. Ie. Josh was a British intellectual working on his thesis in loafers, a cardigan and slacks, Locke and Sarte stacked up at his side. Daniel discussed the industrial, yet humbling art inside the building donning a top-hat and bowtie, and then played us some tunes on his acoustic guitar. Kate & Mallory took to a perilous game of Scrabble (big words, only) whilst discussing worldly travels. Olivia showed up super boho, and Emanuel, as always, was our greasy Euro trash. We collectively wrote and read aloud a joint poem. We oscillated back and forth between various accents. Photos? They are unfortunately lost. But if you find those frat boys who got a kick out of us, I'm sure they can paint you a pretty good picture of what it was like.
SO,
Our next move?
A new religion.
Come to the meeting at HQ this coming Thursday and convert!
