STL Improv Anywhere is a St. Louis, Missouri-based performance collective that performs in public spaces. Our aim is to add a touch of magic to the lives of fellow urbanites, and encourage members of our community to interact and engage more creatively.

6th Annual International Pillow Fight Day was a SMASH!

All ye little pillow fighting monsters - you did well! Strangers become friends, friends became better friends... the 6th annual pillow fight brought out the best in all of us. We saw some familiar die-hard pillow fight alumni, first-timers, and some excellent dance moves this year (shout out to Ronald!). We can’t wait to see you all next year. Start practicing!

Earth Day 2016 Recap

Earth Day 2016 started with a flash meditation in the morning, coordinated with our friends at Yoga Buzz. That means that a large gong chimed and nearly 25 folks plopped where they were and meditated for 5 minutes in the middle of the Earth Day Festival in Forest Park.

Next up, STL IA gathered together to crank up the weird. 

Our first piece, “Clothing Swap”, involved a large recycling bin in the center of the festival with signage denoting “Clothing Swap”. Team members curiously came across the bin and discovered perfectly good clothing which they proceeded to try on, layering one piece over the other into absurdity. With each new item, characters emerged and evolved based on the clothing pieces.

Find a cowboy hat? Do-si-do!

Put on cat ears? Climb a tree right meow.

Discover a cocoon? Wrastle with it!

“Greenwashing” was a infomercial-auction where STL IA ‘vendors’ shared shiny new greenwashed products of no use to anyone. Adjectives and nouns were pulled at random to create completely unrealistic, unnecessary, and often completely untrue products.

STL IA DANCE ZONE at Trailnet's 25th Anniversary Party

We chalked up a Dance Zone in the midst of Trailnet's 25th Anniversary celebration in Forest Park. We activated that circle by dancing liek crazy for 1.5 hours, and engaging others to join us. The kids rocked this one.

Member Kate (Morrissey) Shay got married last weekend! The wedding officiate (the personal who legally binds the couple) was an awesome lady named Dana whom Kate met during International Pillow Fight Day last year!
