Mostly Mezzo Mondays: DiDonato, Gubanova, Buratto, Invernizzi; plus a Handel rarity

Mostly Mezzo Mondays: a recurring (though not weekly) feature where, on Monday nights, I blog a list of the upcoming broadcasts that have caught my eye on World Concert Hall. My interests: baroque vocal music, art song recitals, and a list of favorite singers.

First off, a catch-up opportunity: let me highly recommend the concert performance of Rodelinda that I mentioned in last week’s edition of MMM. It is available on demand on the France Musique website; I don’t see an exact expiration date but I believe France Musique keeps things around for about a month. Karina Gauvin, Romina Basso, Marie-Nicole Lemieux . . . go get it.

I’m mildly curious about Handel’s “Occasional Oratorio,” which I never heard of until I spotted it in the World Concert Hall listings. Saturday the 11th on BR Klassik.

In case anyone is interested in the Chicago Carmen (Ekaterina Gubanova in the title role; Joseph Calleja as Don José; Eleanora Buratto as Micaela), it’s up for broadcast on Saturday the 11th on WFMT. (Note that World Concert Hall lists it very early on the 12th in GMT, but it’s actually a Saturday evening broadcast in Chicago’s time zone.) 

This Mozart Great Mass in C Minor features Roberta Invernizzi and Maite Beaumont among the soloists. I might try to catch it. Sunday the 12th on Radio Clásica.
