Why are all the good headphones in-ear, with those little silicone nubbins that feel like absolute sensory nightmare hell to put inside my ears
I haven't watched the Rings of Power yet but I hope that it will encourage a whole new generation of fans to read HoME and the Silmarillion etc. and add new blood to the fandom! I think that we should do everything we can to encourage that influx of new cool people! ...However at the same time, TRoP is trending and people are debating stuff about the Silm on a huge scale on tumblr, and with more people reading the texts and coming to talk about it here, I can practically smell the imminent waves of rehashed discourse we've already been through in the fandom a million times. I'm barely active in the Silmarillion fandom anymore but it's where I started out on tumblr and it still feels small and comfy and homey to me. Like, aspects of the Silmarillion trending is not by any means a bad thing (in fact I think it would do the fandom good to introduce some new headcanon takes because by the nature of the texts they tend to get a little entrenched) but at the same time I feel like a bug under a rock that's just been lifted up, you know?
Speaking of popular posts... my idea for a shitty new tumblr feature is an option where if your post reaches a certain (user-configurable) number of notes, it will spontaneously self-destruct and wipe out all reblogs of it on other people's blogs. In addition to this, the last person to have reblogged it before it self-destructs has the neighbouring posts on their blog directly before and after it obliterated too. splash damage, babey
I am literally so sick of hearing only news related to the royal family
Honestly I think I'm just going to completely swear off talking about my personal writing projects on here. The tag stealers (whether or not associated with that bug a while ago) are one thing but then there's the people taking my dumb personal musings about my own story as some kind of writing advice, and tagging it as like,.. ideas for them to use. Feels bad, and it's not fucking worth it
Me, worldbuilding: got to make this fantasy society feel more culturally distinct from any one single real world time period or geographical location in reality. Because otherwise why bother
