First Days
Arrived in Seoul last night, but I could not start this blog last night because jet-lag is real, so I’m starting with my first morning in South Korea instead!
So far I am blown away by this beautiful country! I’ve been here less than 48hrs and have seen the bone-jagged mountains, thick ocean mist, beautiful tropical foliage, and the electric city lights in the evening.
Everything is bathed in a milky sunlight this morning (which I’ve since been told is because of city pollution), and the air is surprisingly cool for the summer season.
After this post, I will explore the Jeongja-dong district in search of food (so hungry!). I have read that breakfast isn’t really a thing in South Korea, but I’m totally fine with starting the morning off with any kind of glorious Korean cuisine, breakfast-appropriate or not!
I will probably continue this blog post later, as Seoul is actually not my final destination. My summer school program is hosted at Dankook University in Yongin, South Korea, and today we will officially move into the dorms there.
I’m very excited (and admittedly a little nervous) to begin teaching at the English Village. A week ago I finished my teaching practicum in Germany, so I hope to continue to improve my teaching skills through this program.
I also hope to improve my Korean. I’ve begun to learn Hangul, and I’ve packed my phone with language learning apps, so hopefully that will help :’O
Anyway, this blog will mostly be posts about my time at Dankook University, sight-seeing around South Korea, and my notes about any cultural differences. I fully intend to include lots of food pictures too :)
