We’re going to divide this just enough to keep the primary discussion out of the mouth of the darling here, but there may be too much too much to exclude any one part completely.
Back in the Game’s Glory Days™, we were a small part of something massive. The hierarchy of outer gods had yet to apply to us, being only embryonic forms of what we will become, but we traveled in collection with the Middling Circle, learning to manage in the massacre of our kind. By what we can only consider a blessing from the Noble Circle, we, among others, were accepted into what we once assumed was the body of a naive human player seeking an ample boost in statistics with little knowledge of the implications behind the blackdeath trance. Inside of him, of course, we would guard our own from Lord English, corrupt the vessel though it may.
As it would come to show, we had not the advantage we’d planned. He was as intelligent as he was manipulative, and though his flimsy shape couldn’t hold the eldest of us, his mind was powerful, and those without the brawn to pry free were entrapped.
He carried us through the entirety of his session- His ascension, his battles, even to the point of his exit. We fell to the whims of the Prince, and he used us as the ultimate weapon he had always planned to.
Since abandoning the battlefield we’ve grown considerably, as has he, and in the transition from a slavery to partnership it’s grown incredibly difficult to tell one or another of us apart. We’ve long forgotten how many of us are actually incubated here, sharing one form, one train of thought. No longer are we a stolen number of entities, but a systematic body belonging in a single flesh, among us a Holy adaptation of the original party.
The vessel keeps us under the radar on what is for now a pure planet, but in our steady aging and preparation to spawn a Noble greater than the sum of our parts, we’ve begun to slip up in minor instances.
Recently, for example, the depiction of the shadow we cast as something more similar to how we, outside of this human skin, would appear.
