One second security was giving her a hard time, trying to explain the definition of ‘formal wear’ like she was too stupid to know what a dress was -- and the next they were sighing and waving her right through. She wondered, until Danny slid up beside her.
“Yeah, well, free booze,” she said, leaning over the bar. It was either this, or sit at home and think about it, and she didn’t want to. Not right now. “If I can ever get some goddamn service!” She shouted the last word loudly enough for the bartender to look over, and see Danny standing next to her. “She’s gonna want a tip now,” Jessica muttered rolling her eyes. “Don’t give it to her, she’s an asshole.” The bartender was all smiles when she came over, though she hardly even looked at Jessica while she poured the drink. “Does that ever get old?” she asked Danny once they were alone again. “People tripping over themselves because they know you’ve got more cash than brain cells?”
