Regarding an Imperial Saboteur/Republic Loyalist, the only imperial and empire-friendly companions that would still stand by you if you choose to side with the Republic would be Vette, given that she starts the game as a slave combined with the Empire's view of slavery, and (if you're a Sith Warrior) Light Side Jasea, who the Sith have been hunting down for years by the time of her recruitment during Jedi Under Siege.

i think ashara would stick around, and the BH crew are mostly fairly ambivalent about factions (aside from like... skadge maybe? gault worked as a blockade runner for the republic, mako has no strong feelings about the republic that i recall other than never managing to find out what’s up with the whole ‘clone’ thing, blizz is... blizz. torian is questionable given his mando status but the mandolorians are mostly neutral by the end of kotfetet)

but for the most part, i concur. but then, for an imperial toon, their companions being loyal to the empire (and or having issues with the republic - nikos, broonmark) makes sense.

Given how much you despise Scourge for killing the Exile in that awful Revan novel, have you given much thought as to who replaces him in the Knight's party given how Prudy replaces Doc and Ameetia (your companion OC) replaces Rusk? Maybe another companion OC perhaps?

Hmm, when I was looking for the old posts I made and reblogged about Scourge to look for any possible answers, I got reminded that this was not your first time asking me if I had considered replacing Scourge in my SWTOR canon. Unfortunately, 4 years later, my answer is still the same: I do not really have an idea.

The main issue with coming out with a replacement character to Scourge is that I agree a lot with this post that was made shortly after I answered this question of yours back then (and I had also reblogged that post), that Scourge serves zero purpose in the Jedi Knight story other than to tie in Drew Karpyshyn's awful Revan novel. Therefore, removing Scourge outright does not actually change the Jedi Knight story at all. Moreover, despite the fact that Scourge's previous role as the Emperor's Wrath was later filled by the Sith Warrior, who the previous Wrath was does not matter to the Sith Warrior story at all.

As a consequence, like many years ago, I struggle to think about how exactly what role a companion OC to replace Scourge is going to fit in my Jedi Knight’s story, and how much connection I want this OC to have to my Revan and Exile.

Even though PartySwap in KOTOR 2 allows players to recruit both Brianna and Mical to your party, is it wrong that I'm somewhat hesitant to download it because of how repugnant Greg Ellis (Mical's voice actor) is?

I can relate the feeling of your appreciation or interest in a fictional character being negatively affected when you're aware that their actor is a bigot or terrible person. I went through that myself.

Though personally, for me at least, it's easier to separate a character from their voice actor when it comes to animations and video games, compared to live-action media, because not only that the character is not created by the actor, but also the animated character does not necessary look like their voice actor. So I'm able to separate Mical from Gregg Ellis. However, I understand if you don't feel the same way.

In Mass Effect 2, during the lead up to Miranda Loyalty quest where's explaining her tragic backstory and all of a sudden the camera pauses right on her butt, why do I get the feeling that after they saw that during playtesting, the game's director Casey Hudson as well as the game's writers, Mac Walters and your nemesis Drew Karpyshan (the same guy who had Scourge murder the Exile to prop up his Revan OC in his Revan novel) thought to themselves, "You know what? This is fine."

Yeah, Casey Hudson had defended that butt shot not long after ME2 was released in 2010, ewww.

It's interesting to note that removing Miranda's butt shot during her loyalty mission conversation in ME2 is the only change Mass Effect Legendary Edition has made that isn't related to graphics, gameplay and bugfix. It speaks volumes of how notorious that shot is.

What's your opinion on the "Choose Mira or Hanharr" for KOTOR 2 mod, the mod that allows your to choose whether you want to recruit Mira or Hanharr regardless of whether your character is light side or dark side?

I must confess that I never used that mod. I think the Choose Mira or Hanharr mod is good for players who prefer playing light side but wants to explore Hanharr's character and story, or players who prefer playing dark side but still want Mira as a party member. The mod is not for me however, since I focus a lot on role-playing when I play the KotOR games, in particular I am unable to justify Hanharr willing to join any of my light side Exile's party.

I've always felt that Mira and Hanharr being mutually exclusive party members based on the Exile's alignment makes sense, and definitely much more so than making Brianna and Mical mutually exclusive based on the Exile's gender. The game makes it explicitly clear from the get-go, with the cutscenes of their interactions on Nar Shaddaa that they are unable to co-exist, given Hanharr constantly tries to kill Mira, so it makes sense that Mira only joins a light side or neutral Exile's party, while Hanharr only joins a dark side Exile's party.

If SWTOR ever released an expansion where the Alliance Commander got exposed as a saboteur for the other side, such as a Sith Warrior who defects to the Republic, would Vette and (LS Jaesa if you're a Sith Warrior) remain loyal to the Imperial Defector? Especially Vette given that the Empire enslaved her?

I don’t see why won’t Vette stay with the Alliance if the Commander becomes an Imperial saboteur/defector, especially since as you said, the Empire had enslaved her. Vette not liking the Empire is clear from the start.

While I don’t see Vette becoming a Republic patriot, I definitely see her much rather side with the Republic than the Empire, especially if it means the Empire would be defeated.

Is it wrong that I actually think that DS Jaesa is far more boring than LS Jaesa? Because, (speaking as a cishet male myself) outside appealing to dudebros, her kick puppies for fun attitude when it comes to the dark side is not only badly handled but also uninteresting and boring, especially if you're playing as a either neutral or lawful evil Sith Warrior.

You're not wrong. In fact, I do strongly believe that DS Jaesa is the boring one. As I mentioned in my meta that debunks the notion that LS Jaesa is "boring", Jedi who fall by embracing the Dark Side, becoming extremists, heartless monsters or misanthropic cynics is nothing new (in fact, the concept of fallen Jedi has existed for more than 40 years, since Darth Vader in the Star Wars original trilogy), and that’s exactly why an ex-Jedi who still staunchly follows the Light Side like LS Jaesa is so refreshing.

If the SWTOR devs really have to make DS Jaesa a thing, it would be better if the Sith Warrior could at least teach DS Jaesa that there are more ways to be a Sith than wanton violence and kicking puppies for fun. Doraava, my main Sith Warrior is Dark Side, but since she is Lawful Evil, she would be much less compatible with DS Jaesa than even with LS Jaesa, wich is also why I have Doraava keep Jaesa LS.

I think LS Jaesa is to SWTOR companions what the Jedi Consular storyline is to the SWTOR storylines. Both are considered boring by the fans of SWTOR despite both being underrated and unappreciated.

That's a good comparison. The tendency to dismiss LS Jaesa and the Jedi Consular story, especially the LS playthrough, as boring doesn't speak well about the SWTOR fandom. It shows that the SWTOR fandom has many edgelords who think conventionally good/nice/heroic characters are inherently boring, even when said characters have great or unique character moments that you don't see often in other characters in the same source material.
