Danse actually likes junk

In another abandoned building just like the last, the Survivor picks up a broken light bulb and a dish cloth.

Danse, annoyed: "If you keep hoarding that garbage, you're going to slow us down."

The Survivor, unconvinced. "Feeling grumpy today?"

Danse: "..."

A minute later, Danse: "You're right, I guess I'm missing the point."

A room later, Danse: "That's an interesting find."

Two rooms later, Danse: "Good work, don't leave anything behind."

Survivor, with a broken telephone and used toothpaste: "You don't have to overdo it. I'm not even upset that you grouched at me."

Danse: "Even you have to admit, there IS quite a bit of trash here. But, I'll admit, searching through it could prove beneficial."

Survivor: "Right. That's exactly what I'm doing."

Much later, Survivor: "Umm, Danse? I need to trade."

Something that always tugged on my heart with danse is that after he learns he's a synth and is processing it he's not just upset that some of his memories aren't real. He's upset that his memories are lonely.

He was upset he wasn't given any memories of family, siblings, or friends in his fake childhood. He was upset that he'd been given this false perception of being completely alone his whole life and then suffering emotionally because of it.

He was made to feel lonely for so long because his memories we're lonely.

Father: It's me. I am your son, and I am the father of all synths since they are made from my DNA.

SS: Wait... Danse is a synth

Father: ...What?

SS: Is it insest if we bang?

Father: What.

In another building somewhere deep in the wastelands...

Danse: "This place would elicit fear in most individuals. Fortunately my training prevents... wait... what was that?"

Survivor: "Feeling jumpy?"

Danse: "No. I just loathe buildings like this. Much too easy to find yourself boxed in with no where to retreat."

Survivor, several minutes later: "BOOO!"

Danse, halting: "Goddamnit, I've had it!"

Survivor: "Whoa, calm down, I didn't realize this place was scaring you so much."

Danse: "I am calm. If I wasn't, we wouldn't be having this conversation."

Survivor: "I think you are more tense than you admit."

Danse, sighing: "You're right. Just remain vigilant. I think we are being stalked."

Anyone: Danse, No.

Danse: I don’t take orders from subordinates.

Survivor: Danse, No.

Danse: Ok, maybe I just hadn’t thought of it that way.

Danse gives full attention

Sole survivor paging through a hair magazine to choose a color and style. "What color should I try today? blonde?"

Danse with an intense, penetrating, gaze: "If you want my opinion, no."

Sole: "No is your opinion? Can't you elaborate?"

Danse: "I don't see how my opinion matters when it comes to something as personal as your own hair."

Sole, ignoring the intentional lack of opinion: "How about ginger?"

Danse: "You've got my full attention."

Jumping down from the rooftop of Back Street Apparel: "Danse. Catch."

Danse obeys: "You should not do that without your power armor. You are going to get yourself killed."

Sole laughs: "I love how you worry about me."

Danse: "I'm serious, survivor. If anything happened to you... I honestly don't know what I would do."
