Quito is phenomenal! I spent a week there over Spring break doing a zarzuela program with the main opera company down there and it was a blast
Ah that sounds amazing! A friend of mine’s family is ecuadorian and he spent part of his childhood in quito, so I hardly had to plan anything and they just took me everywhere they thought I should see, it was great!
The one downside is it can be a bit dangerous - I had a place of my own booked, and even in the more touristy area my friend was worried and had me cancel it and stay with him and his uncle. Anyway, the mountains there are just amazing, right? There’s something special about cities in valleys like that, the view just never gets old.
