Reflecting on it, I think I figured out my main issue with MCD Dante~Chan, that being that it just reduces Kawaii~Chan down to being "Dante's wife" as a character. Any character moments she gets are connected to him from Season 2 and on, meanwhile he still gets his own times to shine. What happened to Kawaii~Chan's maids that she was so heartbroken over losing? Why doesn't she really have any in "modern day MCD?" What happened to her having actual relationships with characters outside of Dante, like Lucinda? What happened to her being a decently capable magicks user who helped out during the war against O'kasis and Scaleswind?
All of this is making me reconsider putting Dante~Chan back into my MCD Rewrite, where it'd definitely be edited to allow Kawaii~Chan to be more than just Dante's wife, however, I also need to consider what makes sense for Dante to do and allow himself to do, as, after the fall of Phoenix Drop, he's the only one who remembers those who went missing and has been practically been branded a mad man since. Would he spend the rest of his days restlessly looking to prove he wasn't insane? Would he give up after some time and settle down? Would he do some unhealthy combination of both? So much to consider...
No matter what, I need to rewatch MCD Season 1 to figure out what Dante ship I like most.
I am the odd one out amongst 80% of my mutuals because most of them are team zanechan, but I love Dantechan so much...I love their little family so much they're so sweet and I love Dad Dante he makes my heart soar. He's so girldad and it genuinely completes my life
