       a quiet ‘thank you’ came as she followed him inside, immediately collapsing onto the floor once she was past the kitchen and out of the way. she’d been far from here when the day started, and now she was just...tired. so tired. she’d been worried that he might tell her no, tell her to leave, so now that she had a place to hide out without worry she could relax.

       “we haven’t even really...done anything lately. but i guess a bounty like that doesn’t just go away, huh?” she sounded entirely defeated. “i guess it doesn’t really matter what we do.”

       well now he was just rubbing salt in the wound.

       arms crossed tight over her chest, brows furrowed as her lips curved down into what could only reasonably be described as a pout. she had tried so hard, too, but it seemed she wasn’t capable of doing anything but rob banks and trains and whatever poor fool happened to cross her path at any given moment. that was the only thing that she was really good at, or that’s how it felt most of the time.

       “i ain’t cut out for this, tien.” and then, in the most undignified manner imaginable, she dropped to the ground, sitting cross legged in the dirt. “tryin’ to do anything good – i’m just no good at it.”

       a confused blink, her hands finding the edges of the jacket now draped around her shoulders. she looked down at the new garment and then up at tien, who was most definitely wearing one article of clothing fewer than just a moment ago. did she really seem so cold? it was chilly, she’d admit, although she felt she was doing a good job of not showing it. but he always seemed able to tell when she was uncomfortable and always acted accordingly; or maybe she just wasn’t as bad at hiding things as she thought.

       she did feel bad about taking it from him, as she always felt some sort of guilt when he did things for her. she just didn’t want to be a bother to him. still, rather than offering it back to him, drew it tighter around her shoulders. his body heat was still there – and jeeze what a weird thought that was, but it was nice regardless. just to have someone show care and concern for her. it was nice.

       her head ducked and she smiled, small and entirely blissful. it was something so small and yet made her so happy, moreso than she could effectively convey. 

       “thank you.” her voice was quiet, much more than usual and she cleared her throat before repeating herself, just wanting to ensure he’d heard her. “thank you, tien. if you get too cold, please let me know and i’ll give it back…i don’t want you to get sick.”

       maybe one day she’d be able to accept something from him without feeling bad or feeling like she had to offer something in return – today was not that day.

       he’s touching me. he’s actually touching me don’t mess this up.

       something as simple as this really shouldn’t have had her panicking so much, shouldn’t make her heart race like it did and it sure as hell shouldn’t make her blush like it did. he was just holding her hand and yet it was a far leap from what she usually got – which was far too much personal space and maybe an accidental brush against her arm if she was lucky. still, this was the kind of reaction she’d usually attribute to her more docile personality, to the naive and timid girl who would probably get flustered just for bumping into him. not something she’d expect from herself. 

       she didn’t want to really let on how much it meant and the kind of feelings it caused in her, instead scoffing and turning her head away from him. but, well, aloof she couldn’t pretend to hate it entirely, especially not when ever part of her was screaming to reciprocate. this was a rare chance and she couldn’t let it slip by without at the very least offering the slightest bit of affection back. 

       just something small.

       her hand squeezed his and it was hardly gentle as she moved to lean against his side. she’d probably scare him off like this but she didn’t care; just a little more was all she wanted.

She was laughing. A lot. Did he say something wrong?! He told Yamcha he’d screw it up! What kind of a stupid line was that, anyway?! What was a ten? Where the hell even WAS Tennessee?

       “n-no i’m so sorry...please don’t make that face...” though while she was trying to reassure him, she was still laughing. it was one of those moments where she simply couldn’t stop, no matter how hard she tried. “it was--it was a very nice thing to say, really!” it was a wonder who told him to say it, though, because there was no way he’d ever actually thought to do it, himself.

LEMME GUSH ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS

alright once again back the fuck up, here we go.

lets start with first impressions! blue launch: absolutely terrified of this man. just horrified that he could be so cruel and rightfully hoping goku fucking destroys him in the tournament finals (although she’d never admit it out loud). blonde launch: if you actually consider the first time they met that time crane school antagonized turtle school just before the tournament, she absolutely thought he was a tool. an absolute tool in those dorky fucking close and she PROBABLY would’ve decked him had she had the chance. after the fight she’s completely smitten. but he’s still a tool.

blue got over her terror…relatively slowly. everyone kind of attested to the fact that no, he’s a good guy now, don’t worry. keep in mind she’s a very gentle soul and the last she saw of him was when he shattered yamcha’s leg; she didn’t see any of the retribution in the finals so she doesn’t know any better. all she knows is that this man took the time to seriously injure an already beaten opponent. i imagine at the start she was kind of timid around him and shied away from him at every opportunity LIKELY to his confusion. like i said, she got a better feel for who he actually was and relaxed but it likely took a while.

i think after that she was kind of able to see what her other half saw in him. just an awkward but seemingly very noble soul who just kinda got led astray. and she’d sympathize. and launch is just a natural caretaker and she’d probably look at him and see someone who needs taking care of; despite the fact that he declined to live at kame-house i imagine she’d send goku out on nimbus with a snack just to make sure he’s eating and everything. she’s bandaged him up at last once or twice and i think she’d just. enjoy caring for him. tbh.

blondie…even after he mellowed out she was still infatuated with him. he’s a beefcake with some serious power and who doesn’t love a man who can destroy them, lbr. but the more time she got to spend with him, she kinda got to appreciate him on a lot more than a superficial level. the fact that he’s ACTUALLY a good person and just so. so awkward and unused to simple things like FRIENDSHIP and just generally sitting and having a normal conversation is adorable to her. that he’s so confused by average colloquialisms is her favorite.

after she left kame-house, i think launch did a fair bit of traveling but always came back to tien’s house to check up on him. blondie just…really wanted to be around him, but is in some ways just as awkward as he is when it comes to relationships and is uncertain how to express this. blue just likes making sure he’s doing alright, he’s taken care of, and never misses an opportunity to offer to cook for him. blondie WOULD…steal for him? just because she wants to show her affection, but, again, how do you do that? though she stopped relatively quickly when he never took the money.

blondie is inspired by him to be better; regardless of what she wanted, at this point she really felt like she had no way OUT of the kind of life she was living but he kind of showed her otherwise. blue sees the gentler and kinder sides of him (especially when watching him with chiaotzu) and is utterly smitten. she greatly respects him as a person and all he’s come through.
