Am’s Dragon design! (feat. the precious @seablrd ♥)
So, I don’t think I’ve legit ever explained this, but Amralime can, in fact shapeshift into a dragon. Which sounds horribly godmod, I know. Honestly, I don’t even think I could argue it because, despite my expectations for him, Am has somehow become stupidly op. He still has his flaws, of course, like being prone to fainting, nosebleeds, and an absolute clutz besides - but when looking at things like his excessively deep mana pool or ridiculous lifespan, it kind of just doesn’t even out, y’know?
One of my great buddies @alasmaghilana off-handedly commented that Am was a lot like Merlin (which totally makes Drud Arthur, I hope you know that Jelly lol) but honestly, I think that’s a pretty accurate description of who he becomes!
Back to the main topic though! So, when Amral shifts into a dragon, he’s just slightly smaller than your average high dragon, I suspect. Now, the argument that I was first confronted with was that, as a male, he was incapable of being a high dragon (in DA all high dragons are female) and so he should be a dragon of smaller stature (about half the size he is). I am completely behind this argument, of course. If Am were completely male, this would be absolutely true. It’s not a detail I often flaunt around - mainly because people never fail to show me how small minded they are - but Am is duel gendered (both male and female). As such, it’s reasonable to assume he can shift into a high dragon, though a slightly undersized one.
There’s, of course, another argument about how only ancients can shift into dragons (ie. Flemeth) which was easily dealt with, because Am is technically an Ancient. I’ll touch on that topic later though, when I finish a few more drawings that are more relevant to the information.
