I just saw a post on a friend's Facebook that was a screenshot of another post from an anti-vaxxer asking if her child could have a peanut allergy, even though she isn't vaccinated. One of my friend's friends posted an article in response. It was from some journal I've never heard of, from an author with zero credentials, as far as I could tell zero actual research, and only one referenced work. The author's own book. Now, I don't know about anyone else, but that seems hinky to me. So I did some of my own creative searching (I googled "do vaccines cause peanut allergies) and found a well-researched article on the Children's Hospital of Philidelphia's website. There were at least ten articles listed in the read more, and three studies directly discussed in the article with sample sizes of 500+. All of them saying that there is no evidence to support the claim that childhood vaccines cause allergies or asthma in vaccinated children. And that actually, at least one of those studies found that childhood allergies and asthma actually occur MORE often in unvaccinated children who experience pertussis infection. So...Um. Hmm.
