This cocoon’s appearence is similar to that of Dappula tertius’s cocoon, however I believe it’s a different species. Dappula tertius is much larger, smoother, and rarely covers the cocoon in debri, if at all. It’s possible this species is apart of the Dappula genus however, considering how similar it is to tertius. I’ve spotted this unidentified species before, eating paperbark, but I generally find it on all sorts of plants, including the one pictured. It’s one of the most common Psychidae species in my area, but aside from this page, I can’t find any references to it online.
