So... I was just sitting on the floor, downstairs , watching the video Amandla Stenberg posted called " Don't Cash Crop My Cornrows"(Cultural Appropriation). And a major thought blew my fucking mind! Why is it hard for some white people to think that some black people are educated, have an extensive vocabulary, and have exceptional careers? If you are white and grew up in middle class and you know a black person who also grew up in middle class, why would you undermine that person's being? Why do you automatically assume that I'm ratchet, a criminal, ghetto, stupid, or an OREO/acting" white" ? The main problem I have is that most of these white people(including celebrities) want to blame the media for giving them this idea. I understand when certain television networks, websites,& blogs criminalize any black person involved in police brutality situations or any "alleged" crime. I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about during the 90s and 00s on television. The Cosby Show, A Different World, in Living color, Living Single, Martin(excluding Shaneenee), Proud Family, Girlfriends, Sister Sister, Moesha, The Parker's, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, True Jackson VP, That So Raven(ironic), Family Matters, The Jamie Foxx Show, The Steve Harvey Show(sitcom), Hangin' With Mr. Cooper, The Wayans Bros.,The Bernie Mac Show, Romeo show, One on One, Half&Half, Kenan&Kel, The Hughleys, Famous Jett Jackson, Malcolm & Eddie, My Wife& Kids, Smart Guy, Cousin Skeeter. So what exactly in these television shows give you(some white people) the idea that ALL black people are uneducated, ratchet , live off a diet of koolaid, watermelon, fried chicken & named Daquan & Bonquisha??? These shows display black people in an amazing way. P.S. DO NOT EVER SAY TO ANY BLACK PERSON EVER, "you're not "THAT" black."
