It was late, way later than she should have been out. But Shogo was safe at home with someone watching him. Jubilee had said she needed some air. Being in the city meant she was still never far from the school and could always rush home in case of an emergency, but it made her current situation harder. There was so much life around her and while she had her situation mostly handled, that thought kept creeping back. The one she pushed down, time and time again.

She hadn’t expected, then, the person whom she had sensed a few blocks back to still be following her. It stopped feeling so much like coincidence and more like suspicion. Keeping her keen eyes ahead of her, she ducked into a small side street, moving past the steam rising from a vent. If she was being trailed the other would surely follow.
