I just wanted to thank you! Your art of the beginning of that last TAZ ep was so beautiful and Striking that it made me drop everything and catch up on the podcast. (I was six eps behind and ended up marathonning the lot while laid up with chronic pain.) And that really reignited my interest in writing after months of writers block. of course there’s more than one way to take it. personally, i see it as undermining the ‘bury your gays’ trope since in The Pilot it’s said that Heather wasn’t dead at all. Clara’s transformation was similar - both dead and not dead. it subverts the trope by playing into it and seemingly killing them, but instead making them immortal beings with all of time and space at their disposal. and often subverting a trope can be as equally important as avoiding it entirely.

i won’t try to convince you its all good because i see where you’re coming from, but as someone who’s obsessed with themes of death in storytelling (and the ways in which those themes can intermingle with desire, freedom, and immortality), the arcs of bill, heather, and clara are pretty much everything i’ve ever wanted in life.

take a look at each (not all in one go!) and see whose humour you like best!!
