Hello, mama Bree, I was curious - are there ways to make an item seem more appealing to the eye, and is there any backlash from using these ways?
You mean like a glamour or a beauty charm? Oh sure, that’s definitely a thing.
The best things I’ve found for such charms are dried orange peel, rose petals, and magnolia blossoms or bark. You can also dab the item with a little drop of rosewater or orange or amber oil. (Just a teeny tiny bit, and only if the oil won’t hurt the item in question or compromise its’ finish or structural integrity.)
If it’s a small object or something like items to be sold in a shop, you can store them with a sachet bag of orange peel and rose petals (and magnolia, if you can get it), or lightly mist the shelf with rosewater or a fingertip-smudge of orange or amber oil.
If you’re looking to put this same appealing glamour on yourself, carry the sachet in your pocket, or mist yourself lightly with rosewater, or dab a little drop of orange or amber perfume oil on your wrists. (All this is assuming you don’t have allergies to the substances in question.)
There’s generally a very remote chance of backlash with this kind of magic. The most you have to worry about is being TOO appealing, in which case washing off the perfume and discarding the sachet should negate the effects.
For the magical mechanics portion, here’s a breakdown of the substances involved and what they stand for in these methods (since witches should know WHY as well as WHAT):
Amber Oil - Success, attraction, gain, confidence
Orange Peel / Oil - Attraction, success, monetary wealth, happiness
Roses / Rosewater - Attraction, beautification, love, affection
Magnolia - Beautification, attraction, glamour, confident outlook
