HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

I absolutely love spiders, and Daring Jumping Spiders are my favorite! It’s adorable how they actually have hearts on their abdomens (or as I like to say, on their butts). So last year for Halloween I decided to make myself a tarantula-sized needlefelt one. It took me a week to make, and I finished it right on Halloween! Trying to replicate the iridescent chelicerae/mouthparts was really challenging.

It’s legs are posable, and it’s so light that I can place it on someone’s shoulder without them even noticing. Man, I’ve scared so many people with this needlefelt, I love it! People’s reactions to seeing it is hysterical, and it’s gone flying across the room (and even a parking lot) more than once. It also survived being a play thing for a 3 or 4 year old, so it’s pretty sturdy.

Weirdest walk-in I've ever had! Look at this amazing #spider that I found at work! Thanks to Google I know it's a #phidippusaudax AKA #DaringJumpingSpider. This is the biggest spider I've ever found besides the tarantulas out by my house! I can't believe this was in an urban area. I think I'll let it go in a nearby park. #spiders #jumpingspider (at Downtown San Diego)
