"So you want me to teach you how to cook?" Dario sat across from Beau who, up until now, had been a loose acquaintance. They know each other through mutual friends, but they'd never really had a private, one-to-one conversation until today. And that conversation had involved Beau making a proposition that, due to his inadequacies with cooking, he required tutelage.
That morning Dario had gotten into an argument with Yasmin's mother - his ex-in-law (he wasn't sure what to call her, really). She had rung him, much to his surprise, only to berate and shout about how he had not communicated much with them since the divorce, and that they were worried about whether his ignorance of them was granted, in kind, to their beloved daughter.
Thankfully not. But ex-mother-in-law didn't want to hear it. And now, after the hiding, Dario was latching to anything onto any form of distraction, so when Beau had come into his restaurant, in that specific, quiet interval between lunchtime and dinner, an opportunity presented itself.
"Okay, okay, right. I'm... I mean, what do you need help cooking, exactly? I hope you don't think I'm gonna teach you how to cook gourmet overnight, we gotta start simple first." Dario shuffled in his seat. "Name a standard recipe that you can make, and then name one another standard one that you can't cook. We'll go from there."
