(2/2) Bark gilder Mary Helen O'Brien lays the leaf – in this case, a 16kt pale gold – over the bole. Then, the entire face of the frame – including the reeding – is burnished to a high shine with an agate burnisher (a variety of shapes are shown in the first slide). The gilding will be distressed with a light rub. After this, the gold is sealed, as this karat would tarnish over time. Finally, a light patina is added to the surface of the frame. Stay tuned next week for a look at the art in its final frame! #barkframeworks #woodshop #woodworking #dariushvaziri #burnishing #contemporaryart #woodowkring #gilding #burnishing #goldleaf #palegold #customframes https://www.instagram.com/p/Cp3ZYCwrKbf/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
