Dark HCs? Canon canons?

Darks in HB start out as these rolling balls of shadows inside of what is called a Creation Vat/Creation Tank. They will stay there until their bodies solidify enough for them to hold their form and interact with the world around them. Some take longer, some take shorter amounts of time to solidify.

They are all formed directly from the Force of Chaos, though some are formed directly from the darkness of a person. Most Darks cannot leave the Dark World, as the Light World would immediately disperse them.

“Dispersing” is the term used for “killing” a Dark. Only their Light can kill them for good, but others can injure a Dark enough to cause them to disappear and be returned to the Dark World or a sort of limbo.

There are a few Darks who were not kept in Vats when they were first created. Two of them were borne directly from Fayra, the Goddess of Chaos and Creator of the Darks. These were the first Twins of Balance to ever be born. The other was formed directly from Fayra’s heart, though she did not give birth to them like she did with the Twins.

A Dark initially has completely black hair and skin, and completely red eyes. Their skin will lighten to varying shades of grey depending on how Light their body is exposed to. Their eyes will gain new colors. The sclera will turn black, and the irises will gain a variety of colors. Their hair will lighten to varying shades of purple, becoming lighter and lighter the longer they are exposed to Light.

“Light” isn’t just the Light World itself. Light can be found in the love for another person. There are a few Darks who gained Light simply through their intense love of someone dear to them, without them ever stepping foot in the Light World.

A Dark can be Brightened through a kiss from the person they love most in the world. When Brightened, the Dark’s hair will turn completely white, and their skin will take on either a normal, though pale, skin tone. The skin tone may vary depending on what the Dark’s preference is, or simply what they have seen most. Lastly, their eyes will take on the color of their love’s eyes. If they have multiple loves (platonic/romantic/familial), their eyes can take on a mixture.

Darks have nails that are stronger than any metal known to any Era or race. They cannot be filed down nor cut. The only thing that can properly withstand a Dark’s nails, is a Dark or a Deity. Though, even Deities have trouble withstanding the scratch of a Dark.

If a Light kills their Dark, or vice versa, that can mean the end for the living party. A Light and Dark are two halves of a whole. They create a Balance within each other. If one dies by the other’s hand, the survivor will slowly descend into madness.

Even if the survivor crosses into an Era, where their counterpart is still living.
