I think the whole “Dark Meteos” thing has been pretty funny. He overall has looked better, seemed to have felt tons better, and had a healthier mind after moving to P1. Don’t you think? He’s just seemed happier. Can’t say that that’s a bad thing!

I also was asked previously my opinion on what I thought of him moving over was, and I’m just going to address that here as well, since at the time, I really didn’t want to go into it because I feel like there was a lot of indifference going on between a lot of people about it. I opted to not throw myself into the fray, but now that some time has passed, I think I can say more. I’m going to put a break in this message so that people who aren’t interested in what I have to say, don’t have to bother with reading - but for those who do, you can click below to read more.
I think Meteos moving on from Cloud 9 is the best thing that could have happened not only to him, but to Cloud 9 as well - for many reasons. Because not until some time has passed, and you look back at the Meteos with Cloud 9 vs. the Meteos with P1, and the Cloud 9 with Meteos vs. the Cloud 9 without Meteos can you really see just how big and beneficial it’s actually been.
It’s a change I think both parties desperately needed at the point things were getting, because I don’t think anyone can forget how down and depressed Meteos was for months after playoffs/worlds last split. Initially I thought his decision to step away from pro play overall was the best choice he could have made for himself. Because when someone isn’t enjoying what they do anymore, when it’s literally having a negative effect on them (and yes, I know the criticism from people was a big part of it, but the bigger point is that he was just unhappy), the solution is they find a way to stop it from continuing. And Meteos talked a lot about how he knew staying off social media and leaving the team, stopping playing so much, were his solutions, and that they did help him.
When he moved away from Cloud 9 to P1, the way he talks about how relaxing the environment is with them, how laid back it is, how they don’t hold him to any standard - you could see it in his eyes, on his face, how much of a relief it was, how much peace and contentment was in his expression over it. And to me this solidified (because I still worried that the same thing was just going to happen again, he was just going to find himself back in that place once more, of misery) - that he had found a place to call home again.
And even more so it just goes to show how human the guy is. He goes through the same types of things anyone would - phases of extreme downs, depressive states and mindsets. Sometimes people find themselves so low they feel crippled and don’t know what to do to pick themselves back up. He did seem to be stuck for some time, but when an option presented itself to him, even if it was scary, he took that leap of faith, and it has rewarded him immensely as a result. He just looks like he belongs again, after spending an entire summer split with his old team, looking like he never did click again (internally with the team), and wearing a frown for most of the time. Sure, it wasn’t all bad, at least from the way things appeared, but in the end, it drove him away again, and everyone suffered because things just weren’t working.
Cloud 9, since Meteos has moved away, I mean, you can tell if you’ve been watching Genesis or even if you’ve just been following their split that the change (and getting a new jungler) has also been beneficial. Sneaky spoke a lot in the beginning - before the split started - about how things weren’t working with Meteos anymore. Both on the Rift, and within the team, synergies were starting to get bad again, and things began getting harmful. No one was really seeing eye to eye anymore, there was a lot of tension, etc.
And sure, Cloud 9 has had a couple weeks of underwhelming performance, they’ve lost a few games, but overall, they have been absolutely incredible this split - they have improved in many ways and on many fronts, because the energy is right, the synergy between the players now is at the absolute best it’s ever been, and they LOOK so happy and like they’re having so much fun. Never have I seen so many tweets and pictures of just everyone looking so happy and carrying on together with Cloud 9 as there have been lately. The energy is healthy again, the atmosphere is healthy and stable.
Meteos seems to be clicking really well with his P1 teammates also. He looks like he’s having fun, and getting the support he needs from his fellow Rift mates - they’re letting him play his game - jungle how he wants to jungle -which is how it should be. I don’t believe he was getting it from the Cloud 9 team anymore, and I don’t believe his play style was fitting with what they needed anymore. And when things like that happen, he did the best thing he could have done, get out. It’s a choice that propelled both sides forward, for the better this time. As a result, we have a happier Meteos, and a happier Cloud 9. And I just can’t find anything negative to say about that.
