happy 30th birthday to idol and actress kong xueer!

Polite reminder that Bai Hehuai is canonically 30 in the drama and is therefore considered old for not being married at that point in time and traditional Chinese culture, SO TWO THINGS ON THIS:

1. I fucking love that she's 30 and the drama isn't pushing the whole, "you're old and unmarried and therefore a spinster and it must be because you can't get a man" agenda on her character because she's a badass healer WHO MADE IT OUT IN JIANGHU ON HER OWN and whose skills have approximately one (1) rival, who is the actual medicine king and her 師侄

2. She bagged the ultimate bachelor of Dark River (two, if you ship the triad), so screw that

3. Her conversation with her father trying to bring up marriage prospects wasn't done because she's "too old" but because she had met Su Muyu and it seemed like a good time to settle down (they had Nan'an, they had the clinic, and Anhe was heading in the direction Su Muyu and Su Change wanted)

4. Side note, I love that a bunch of these women in this drama are a little older than Bai Hehuai (Su Yunxiu, Mu Yumo, and even Zhaoyan--she isn't too much younger than Bai Hehuai), but are so badass and have so much agency and the traditional views aren't pushed on them. It's SO refreshing, even with the aside that they can and will actually put you in your grave with their pinky if you piss them off

Okay so maybe that was four things, but there's just so much that I love about this drama

The first couple that could face the heads of families, and request a formal grand wedding, is highly positioned and has high enough achievement for it to be so grand. With all the hassle of trusting someone from your own organization, no matter whether from the same family or a different one, that you would tie your whole life to this other killer.

May the first couple that could get married in the Falling Stars Pavilion, live together united until the river of forgetfulness separates them, and meet again in the next life by the red thread tied within this very pavilion.

So yeaaa dis is an idea I had since the finale, enjoy and tell me what do you thinkkk.
