Seven Days of Skibidi -- Day One
Hello everyone! Today is the day I begin to respond to my Seven Days of Skibidi prompts.
Today's question is:
Which "main" character is your favorite? What draws you in?"
OR
Which episode/scene is your favorite? Why?
Luckily for me, answering one of these questions actually answers both! My favorite "main" character is Dark Speakerman, and my favorite scene (or, in this case, series of scenes) is the bunker/infiltration arc! (do we have a name for it already?)
I adore Dark Speakerman for a lot of reasons, but the main one is that I love witnessing how others react to his actions in the infiltration arc. Seeing him, too, try to cope with the guilt brought on by shutting the door on those cams, is a perfect demonstration of the darker themes that Skibidi Toilet encorporates into its narrative. He represents, in my opinion, part of the heart of ST. The presence of darker storylines and painful decisions reflect in his character. He keeps his head lowered after he makes that call. He can't even meet his allies' gaze after the event. He never defends his actions but takes a literal hit for them. It sets the tone for who he is as a character in a fantastic delivery of visual storytelling.
A few smaller reasons I like him: he has a scratch in his cone (the red part) that is barely noticeable (or I'm seeing things). The knife thing is stupid and I adore it. His color scheme is very pleasant. He's very quiet (both literally and figuratively) for a speaker, and his personality stands out because of that.
As for the infiltration arc, it's wonderful for three key reasons: its tone, its pacing, and its story. The tone is intense yet paired with humor in just the right places. The pacing is slow, and the payoff at the end is incredibly rewarding for a show that, in general, runs at a much higher pace. The story itself unleashes a massive new understanding of the series while providing a bittersweet conclusion for its loyal viewers.
Overall, both Dark Speakerman and the infiltration arc embrace what I enjoy so much about this series. It's a perfect reflection of what drew me in, which of course, I will be elaborating on in a few days.
I hope you all enjoyed reading my short little ramble! If you join in, use the "seven days of skibidi" tag :D
I'll see you tomorrow for Day Two! (And please pardon my inadequate art skills-)
