Friends who are loosely interested in my WIP novel, question for you as I tackle some of the middle!
So, important context: story is set in Oxford in the early 1900s (flicking madly right now between ~1905 and ~1925) and features a fictional Oxford college that teaches magical theory and in essence serves as, like, the English magical government locus. This has been mainly background, other than some interaction with admins, because the plot is largely focused on people in the city who were *not* involved with the college *until* this point.
But, I am trying to figure out some of the middle details in the book, and it's occurring to me it *might be really useful* to actually have some time in the College. This makes me just a bit hesitant, I admit, though, because while there's inevitably a few dark academia genre/loosely Harry Potter-esque references due to being a magical college, I had been trying to avoid falling into the "Harry Potter for grown-ups" subgenre (not that there's anything wrong with it, necessarily; I quite like that genre to read, but, y'know, wanted to be Different, and the conflict itself isn't focused on the College so thought I could get away without it).
So, this brings me to the BIG POINT OF THIS: THE POLL!
Do we want magical classes/to explore the magical college?
No, too many magical colleges, keep it outside the uni
Yes, of course! Make them students and let us learn magic!
