All Aidan Hillworth wanted was a normal life.

In order to protect their existence as well as others from the dystopian government, Aidan outed himself as the ONLY witch in existence. In the fallout from the deal he made, Aidan gained what he desired. Having passed London’s Trials, the government-sanctioned battle of wills to determine a person’s social standing, Aidan is an Observer in the medical field, walking the same path as his father. “Flameo.”
Suddenly, the floor came to life with fire. It shot forward at Aidan like a rabid dog toward an intruder. Aidan’s eyes narrowed on it.
He thought about the idea behind photosynthesis. He thought about the air and the forms it could take. His eyes focused on the flames shooting at him.
Suddenly, the air snatched the flames up as if they had turned into a person grabbing up dirty clothes. The tightened air became water. The fire became stream. It floated away.
“Aidan?”
That voice…?
“Lightech pix.”
They both knew. If either commanded the lights turn on, the apartment would use voice recognition to realize neither of them was the tenant. From there, authorities would be alarmed.
A soft glow started to manifest in front of him. Aidan’s eyes adjusted as fast as possible. Little moths fluttered around the intruder. Moths that glowed in the dark. However they did their job, allowing Aidan to see the woman in front of him.
“Hello, Ella,” Aidan said.
“Aidan,” the short-haired blonde uttered back.
“What are you doing here?” Aidan asked. “Do you not have a section of Manhattan to run?”
“I do,” Ella replied. “I also have secondaries to run it when I am away. Georgia was worried after you reported the dead body. So…she sent me.”
“She really should not have,” Aidan said, his words dipping with venom.
“Why not?” Ella challenged. “You are our leader. Well…when you feel like running the circle.”
Aidan frowned. “I trust who I have under me.”
“So you should trust Georgia’s judgment then,” Ella said. “After all, she is your secondary.”
“I was fine.”
“Clearly not.”
Aidan let out a frustrated sigh. He wondered if this was what his mother had to deal with when she was in charge.
“All right,” Aidan said. “How about we go somewhere less…morbid?”

Well...some progress is better than no progress. That has been the theme this week. I might not be getting things done the way that I like, but it was still getting done. Delays be damned.

EDITING. So I started a thing.
And that thing...was a new writing project. It took a few days and was written around my #december work schedule. But it was done. I took the last few days off to let it breathe a bit. But I hoped to get back to it this weekend. Let's see if I can get rid of 1,000 words.
Meanwhile, I was at the #library today. The goal? To do a THIRD drift to the short story that I finished a little while ago. I know, I know. But when that #author intuition kicks in...
Fingers crossed that I will get that research in for DARKENED SOUL: THE BREAKING OF CIRCLES this upcoming weekend as well.
TYPING. I decided to put my forthcoming #blog on hold to work on the new writing project. I have every intention of #looping back around to it though. Going back to that #intuition of mine...I would rather get some of the current little projects that I have in play finished and out and about. And as an author/artist, we do have a problem with finishings.
But that didn't mean that I was not about to get some typing in. Well, I have been. I've been getting used to the wiggle room of time to be at the library. And as a #counterpoint to other things I would be working on, I was using the time to type up my current WiP...which I was almost caught up to.
Speaking of...
WRITING. Break.
I believe that I mentioned that I would take a brief one last week to get caught up on my aforementioned other projects that I had in play. So for my #WiP, I made it to the climax that I've been working on since I started seriously writing it.
I feel it will be a good #break. I've done such a great job the last few chapters, having something in them that resonated. A word of advice/pearl of wisdom. A look into a secret relationship. And...my main character getting her heart broken. And the messy chaos from that last one. It was great working on it the last week, always ending on a cliffhanger so I was eager to work on it the next day. And now I had to wait to find out the fallout.
This week, my focus was on ANOTHER new writing project. I liked that I thought about it a few times last week and already had a name for my main character. I hoped that I did the concept justice. And it was going to be...interesting. There's something that I wanted to work out of my head. This would be a good exercise for that.
And that was how the week was looking.

EDITING. Sadly, I have not made it back to my short story to edit. Life has been life-ing. Again. What made it very interesting has been that it has been a matter of time.
My mind had gotten used to being able to work on writing stuff in the evening with life stuff moved to the morning. And then...it all moved.
Like I said...#chaos.
TBD how I will handle it. Though my mind continued to consider where to place my short story when I was done.
Meanwhile, I have been getting great research time in at the #Library for THE BREAKING OF CIRCLES. And getting some more of it done. It was still a long way to go. But...a start.
TYPING. Hmmm...while it was also a matter of time. I found the typing problem has been that I had so many things to work on. A spoil of riches.
Another draft of my short story. My next blog for my blog space. A new project that I started on. Not to mention another potential creative project on the #horizon. BUT...I still have to finish all that I'm working on.
Just...ugh.
Time to make a definite choice.
WRITING. Writing has been great.
I had been talking about how my mind had been debating showing some of the darker side of the #restaurant industry through my main character Alicia. But she was so squeaky clean. Slowly, but surely, I've been going deeper into her. Building to it.
Regardless of the chaos in my life, my writing quota was still being met. Going beyond it in fact. That made me smile. It meant that I was focused. It also meant the story had a build in it again, which I admit that I was worried about.
And...then I realized it. I had hit the #middle of my novel. WOW. I know I had the ending in mind, but the middle? It was a sign that I was now closer. I had made a turn on the writing road. After all, if I can see the middle, then I can also see the end of the novel. #progress.
The last few days I've been writing some interesting scenes. They have been #resonating. Or as I like to call it...echoing. Yep. I see some of me and my current life in them. Yesterday's scene brought up some surprisingly unresolved issues from the past. Who knew?
I wondered what I would #write today.
That was how the week was looking.
GOOD MORNING, LIKERS!!! How has your week been? I haven't been up too long, but I see Life is Life-ing. #again Le sigh. But that doesn't mean that I shouldn't keep going.
And keep going I have. San Diego has been dealing with #rain. It's been dealing with cold. And I was so happy that a friend took me out to forget my troubles for a bit.
Not a #trouble though. My writing. So...let's talk about it.
Otherwise known as EDITING, TYPING, AND WRITING!!
EDITING. Last week, I mentioned that I wanted to get back to researching for Darkened Soul: THE BREAKING OF CIRCLES. Of course, I had to return my research books to the library. Not to mention having time to do some of my research AT the #library.
Funny thing about that. With the weather growing colder the last week or so, it's been harder for me to be outside to write...which is what I #love to do. So it occurred to me...I could just head to the library to get my writing time in. Silly me. LOL.
So I was on hand to pick up my research. And this time? I would be able to give it the focus that I felt it deserved.
Meanwhile, I finished my short story editing. And...I decided to do it again. As I was editing it, it occurred to me that my build/slow burn might have been too slow of a build. It turned out that I had a...dare I say it...better story starting from a different point in my short story than where I started. Also that particular character was much more interesting.
So this weekend would also see me circling back to it for another draft.
TYPING. Well, my #creativity continued to be growing. So much so, that I had two projects on my mind.
One was a new blog for my blog space over at https://www.tumblr.com/blog/someplace-that-is-else. I was looking forward to it. My last few #blogs have been on indie author stuff. I was overdue something pop culture/tv show related...something that had been on my mind. That it was staring me in the face would never not be funny.
The other one was a bit more #ambitious. It had occurred to me while I was talking to my BFF on my phone one day. And it just kinda stuck. I had always been quite navel-gazing when it came to my non-fiction writing. And this was something in that vein. And my instinct was telling me to go for it...a new avenue to explore.
The real question was...which to work on first.
WRITING. To think I was worried this week about meeting my writing quota. #lol
Last week, I talked about how I was wondering about the next turn in my current #WiP about working in the restaurant industry. Showing the darker side of things. I think it got to a point that I kinda overthought it. Either that or Alicia, my main character, was rebelling against me. We will see how it goes.
In any case, I still was keeping my writing quota. And as I mentioned, that was involving me going indoors to get it done. I am still delighted that it hit me to just work on it at the library. Awww to be around #books. Oooh to draw such inspiration from wandering around the shelves. Wander, but still sitting down to get my time in. Even better...I was feeling weird when I was not working on it. Progress.
And that was how the week was looking.

GOOD MORNING, LIKERS!!! Slowly the sun is peeking out. How has your week been?
#mercuryretrograde has been kicking my butt. No lie. There has been a lot going on. But...as Stacey Rusch on #RHOP would say...still I rise. lol.
So what am I up to? Well, let's talk about it! Otherwise known as EDITING, TYPING, AND WRITING.
EDITING. In the bad news department, it has been a struggle to get to just sit down and work on my research time for Darkened Soul: THE BREAKING OF CIRCLES. It felt like every time I would be adamant to sit down to work on it, something would happen to stop it. So it was still a work in progress.
In the good #news department, I was able to find time to sit and edit over my short story. And happily...I was about to finish my edit. I was so proud that I worked on it when I was not tired. And I was happy to catch things that I did not the first time around.
Now about that rewriting...#pondering a shift. Let's see how it goes.
TYPING. Another week, another #chapter.
I had been typing up the chapters on my latest #WiP. And I finished. I was caught up for now. So what next?
Well in the process of all the editing, typing, and writing that I had been doing, I had noticed that my #creativity has been increasing. I didn't know whether it was the recent full moon, the current Mercury Retrograde, or just life life-ing, but I went with it anyway.
And that came with a few #blog ideas? I know, right! So I had a few ideas in mind to work on when I got the chance. And my next blog for my blog space was going to be a long overdue #popculture one. So keep #Looking for that next one. ;)
WRITING. One thing that I've continued to be #proud of...has been writing.
Last week, I had been on the fence about showing the dark side of the #restaurant industry through my main character Alicia. But I decided to let the characters speak for themselves. And I also sense that going through the dark will lead to the light. And the end of my novel which of course I have an idea of how it ends already. Typical me lol.
This past week has not been easy. AT ALL. So it says something to me that I have continued to meet my #writing quota...if not my gym time. LOL!
Just yesterday, I had to do A LOT. And that was going to interfere with my time I would normally write. And it did not have a happy ending, either. #playinginmyface. But what did I do? I just wrote earlier. So no matter what happened the rest of the day, I had written. And I was glad I did.
And that was how the week is looking.
